- Wedding: December 2016
Our wedding was this last Saturday (12.10.16), and I’m feeling so #blessed because we literally had our dream wedding. Don’t let anyone ever tell you that you’re over planning or worrying about too many small details. Because I had planned every obnoxious detail, almost nothing went wrong! Our day of planner was a few hundred dollars, and wasn’t a professional–just a family friend who gets stuff done. She was worth every stinking penny. Cannot recommend having a day of person enough!
Our silly list of things that went “wrong”:
-I walked too early on my walk down the aisle song, causing a few seconds of standing at the front of the church
-We forgot to supply booze for our bridal party in the limo while we took pics (they survived the 30 minutes sober)
-My husband’s groomsmen weren’t appreciative of the VERY thoughtful gifts he bought them
-Bar ran out of prosecco a little too early in the night
-Bar ran out of vodka at the end of the night
*for a completely self-planned wedding, this is pretty darn impressive in my book!
-A live string trio for the ceremony was so unbelievably worth it
-Hunt down your husband frequently at the reception if you get separated
-Practice your first dance at least once (oops!)
-Get your dress altered AGAIN if you can days before the wedding, you will lose weight the week of the wedding
-Give day of gifts
-Dont take a full on honeymoon post wedding, 2-3 days in a nearby hotel with room service was the best thing we could have done
-Don’t say no to help from anyone the day of the wedding
-Thank everyone as you go through the day and mean it!
Thank you to every bee on this site who has given such great advice throughout my engagement!!!
