Congrats!  Sounds like everything went pretty smoothly.

We practiced our first dance quiet a bit, and I’m happy we did!  So, I agree with that one.  However, we went on a full honeymoon two days after our wedding and I’m really happy about it.  it was my favorite part of the “wedding activities.”  However, taking a mini-moon would be better than not doing anything I guess.  Do what you can afford.

Congrats! We were married on 11.5.16 and I heard so many times that things would go wrong and to just roll with it and, I kid you not, nothing went wrong. Not one thing. Best day ever.

We took our honeymoon 5 hours after our reception ended and, while I’d recommend a few more hours lol, I’m so glad we did. It just kind of added to this magical week. Felt like a fairytale. I’m still dreaming of it haha.

Curious, what was the gift the groomsmen didn’t appreciate?

chigirl217bride :  Congratulations Bee 🙂 It’s great that your wedding was everything you’d hoped for.

You walking down the aisle too early made me smile- I tried to kiss my groom too early, before the officiant was finished (made several people laugh, though I didn’t do it intentionally). Grinned like an idiot throughout the ceremony 🙂

I agree that having only a few minor things go ‘wrong’ is impressive, especially doing so much of it yourself 🙂 Also agree with a DOC being a good idea. In my case I wish I’d paid decorators to decorate our venue/tables etc. We DIY’d it and I really under-estimated how long it would take, even with several helping hands, we were so late getting home the night before the wedding, I would have preferred a relaxing lead-in.

String trio for the ceremony sounds so lovely.

Curious about the advice to hunt down your new husband frequently at the reception….do you feel he was spending too much time not by your side? DH and I were mostly together, but occasionally apart….but having fun, mingling etc with family & friends so I don’t think I actually ever went looking for him.

We only spent our wedding night at the hotel, it was very short actually because we stayed at the reception until the wee hours and then left the hotel after breakfast- although happily because we had long distance relatives staying with us and we wanted to see them as much as possible before they had to leave. Mixed emotions on delayed honeymoon- on one hand we still have it to look forward to this spring, and our work & family schedules account for the delayed trip and we’ll definitely be more rested/ less hectic etc. On the other hand, to do it right after seems romantic, and it felt rather jarring to be married on a Saturday and then back at work on the Monday.

Did you find out what was up with the groomsmen? It sounds very rude and insensitive to rebuke your husband’s gifts like that…..and it seems like you had a large wedding party and it wasn’t just one or two of them but all of them that acted like jerks??? The gifst your husband put together for them sound very nice- but even if they didn’t like the gift very much for whatever reason, you’d think they’d still take the gift and say thank you. Sucks they made him feel bad like that when he tried to be thoughtful.

chigirl217bride :  LOL well that explains why I was oblivious to go grab my DH- I’m the one who’s bad with time management when I run into people 🙂  At malls, sporting events, grocery stores etc too
