- Wedding: June 2015
I’m one of the rained on the wedding day brides, and as my husband and I planned to return to the venue town for our anniversary, we’d planned on taking some pictures of ourselves with the weather as we’d originally anticipated. In the end I decided I’d feel silly playing dress-up in my wedding dress again, so we just took some shots dressed up a little. It was fun, most of the pictures were god-awful, but we enjoyed ourselves and it was certainly as gorgeous as we’d planned.
Turns out though, Moab was very different this time around and we are now grateful for the bad weather. Although it was greener and sunnier, it came with a price – so many biting bugs! Plus it was super hot, of course. The week before we arrived it was over 100 but luckily had cooled a little for our trip. I’m now covered in mosquito bites from my own home, fly and no-see-em bites from Moab (just don’t stand still somewhere wet unless it’s windy). So sure, we were cold and damp last year, but it was all for the best, it seems!
Not only were the falls really roaring with snowmelt (both years), the embankment on which we had our pictures taken last year is gone. You can see the boulder midway up on the right in each photo though.
We left our favorite guest out of pics last year — too worried he’d roll in something unpleasant. So he did our ring shot this time.
Oh yeah, we’re in a picture as well!
Last, because I can, here’s the CO river on our ATV ride to Chicken Corners – everyone should visit Moab, it’s soul candy.
So this doesn’t look completely narcissistic… anyone else go back to the scene of the crime for an anniversary or vacation?
