My fiancé and I will have been together for 5 years this August and I have absolutely no idea what to get him. I’ll consider any sensible suggestion. Tearing my hair out here trying to think of something!

This year I decided we’d just get something for our property as an ‘ours’ gift. The tree I wanted wasn’t available so we got a big butterfly bush. Conveniently for you, year 5 is the wood anniversary, so this idea works well if you have land. Or even an indoor fruit tree if there is a lot of light. A really nice box if that’s something he’d use, a piece of wooden furniture, etc. I think I’d find wood to be the easiest anniversary now 😛
alternatively a weekend away would be great too, even if it’s just spoiling yourselves somewhere nearby.
ETA just realized it’s not a wedding anniversary but who cares? Lol

Every year I make my fiance a photo book of all our photos from that year. We also go out for dinner to the restaurant where we had our first date. Otherwise I think weekends away are great or tickets to a show, concert or sporting event.

I got for my bf experience anniversary gift this year. A helicopter lesson with the flight over our city. He booked vacation to Carribean for us as a gift, we are going in December.
Last year I got us couple’s massage in SPA and we went to our favorite restaurant.

A tree or plant(s) as pp suggested
A weekend away
Surprise dinner out somewhere special (don’t tell him where you’re going)
A local event or destination event (concert, comedian, sporting, etc)
Custom monogrammed leather luggage tag/travel set
An experience in a special interest category like the helicopter lesson above. One tailored to your FH’s interest.
An experience for you to do together, cooking lesson, spa, a historical/photography/culinary,nature etc. tour.

I really like “experience” gifts too — especially since my husband usually buys stuff he wants on his own. I have rented him a sports car for a day, given him a flying lesson, and we have taken a cooking class together. He seemed to really like these gifts!

Thanks everyone. I’ve actually been looking at a brewery tour experience for the two of us to do. He likes experience gifts. A couple of years ago I brought him a bird of prey handling experience, and last year I got a clay pigeon shooting experience.
