My husband and I decided to take a vacation every year for our anniversary. This year we have decided to keep it simple since we are trying to save money.
We live in Pittsburgh and are thinking about a beach vacation to North Carolina or South Carolina. Any suggestions?
Not sure if there are any adult only resorts in those areas, but it would be preferred.
We obviously want to go somewhere nice with lots to do. Our honeymoon was in the Bahamas at an all inclusive resort, it was fun and all, but we like to explore and try our new restaurants and activities.
We aren’t really the ‘night club’ types, but more of a chill bar type of couple.
The only place I have been is Myrtle Beach with my family, probably every year of my life from when I was 2 until I was about 19. lol
I am open for suggestions 🙂 We are also considering renting a beach cottage if possible of anyone has any suggestiosn for those as well :)!

We have the same anniversary and we are also looking for an anniversary trip location!

I don’t know about adults only resorts but I would highly suggest Charleston (or maybe Isle of Palms with day trips to Charleston). It’s great with beaches and history and it’s beautiful.

@theeekingeek:Myrtle Beach or Hilton Head

The states don’t typically have “resorts” that are adults only. Nice hotels, yes, but resorts like in the bahamas? I wish =]. South carolina is nice–they have a big aquarium and old battlefields to visit. Renting a cottage would be nice, though!

We rented a cottage in Hawaii and it was so nice. We are really considering doing that, but I just dont know what beach or area. I don’t think we will be go Myrtle Beach since I have been there so many times and we are looking for something new to the both of us.
My parents always stayed at resorts when we went to Myrtle Beach, but they were family resorts. Don’t get me wrong, I like kids, but not stranger’s kids and not so much while I am on vacation lol.
I think a beach cottage may be the best way to go, but what beach/area I guess is the question. lol

@theeekingeek: You can rent cottages, houses, condos in Isle of Palms. And like I said, you can make day trips to Charleston. Plus Isle of Palms has a little town area where you can walk between restaurants, bars, and stores but still feels very secluded from the bigger city and I’ve found the beaches to be nicer than Myrtle Beach.
ETA: Look into Wild Dunes. It’s not adult only but it’s really nice.

The Outer Banks area in North Carolina has some good things to do, with pretty lighthouses, nice condos for renting, relaxing beaches and more. But I’ve heard that Hilton Head and Charleston are more vacation like, with better resort type places.

OoOh! Thanks much ladies :)!!!
I just don’t want to end up somewhere on accident with a whole lot of nothing to do or explore.

You should check out http://www.vrbo.com and find a house to rent. Wilmington is nice and has a lot of shops and places to walk around and the beach is right there.
We also really like Emerald Isle for the beach, but there isn’t that much to explore in the surrounding area.
Charleston, SC like someone else suggested is also a great place to visit.

We are also planning to do an anniversary trip every year! I think this year we will either go back to the place we got married and stay at the same hotel we stayed on our wedding night or go to Niagara Falls
For you I would suggest either Charleston or OBX. Charleston is the most romantic place I have ever been and is such a fun place to visit! There is a lot to do and see and they have really good food there! OBX is fun but it way more low key and relaxed – in the summer it would be great because everything is actually open at that time. Either one is a great vacation spot. Another wonderful place in NC that Ive been to is called Atlantic Beach. Its a cute little beach town on the coast and I absolutely loved it when we visited a few years ago!

We rent two houses on Topsail island. It’s very laid back and you can take daytrips.
