This sounds like a problem with your husband, not your brother in law. Tell him to rub one out or eat a sandwich, but he /cannot/ take whatever bullshits got him in a bad mood out on you.

theresabow:  Again, sounds like a problem with your husband. He’s a grown up and should be capable of navigating adult relationships–which includes saying “no” from time to time. No one is holding a gun to his head and forcing him to be at his brothers beck and call, and honestly it sounds he’d rather be a martyr than be in a good mood.

Yup, that’s a husband problem, not a brother-in-law problem. Your Brother-In-Law may be a jerk and your husband can’t control that, but your husband CAN control how he reacts to it.

Agree with PP’s. Your Brother-In-Law is not the issue here. If your husband talks down to you and is unkind after spending time with his brother, that is an issue to take up with your husband. Your Brother-In-Law is not in charge of or responsible for your husbands actions or behavior.

theresabow:  Have you ever pointed it out to your husband when he is being an ass towards you after spending time with his brother?

It’s your husband with the attitude, not your Brother-In-Law (well maybe him too, but that’s no excuse to have your husband be treating you like sh!t). Have you asked him why he is acting the way he is towards you?

theresabow:  for every insult your dh throws at you, I’d point out that he is reacting negatively after interacting with his brother and I’d also throw an insult right back.  Childish, maybe but he’s dismissed you when you told him directly. Time to show him how it is.
