- Wedding: September 2014 - Garden outside our church
Yesterday at the Blessing of Animals, I overheard Dearest telling our priest that he needed to meet with her soon. Her reaction was “Oh, for what I think it is. What number is this?”,
D: “three, well, the first real marriage, third wedding.”
Rev.: “well, that’ll make it more difficult, but not insurmountable, but if it is I’ll just go to the woods with y’all. …Oh, well, that’s what you want to do anyway.”
Yes, we do want to go in the woods–mostly because we want a tiny wedding in a place that is significant to us, and if it’s in the church, there’s no telling what my family will turn it in to. However, it’s really important for me for our marriage to be sacramental–and for the church to recognize it as such. On the other hand, SO has commented that he would be fine getting a civil marriage and just having it blessed because the church has failed him twice by allowing him to get married even though both times the priests said they knew it wouldn’t last.
So now I’ve told him that I don’t want to get officially engaged until things are clear with the church. I guess I’m just being silly, and I should just be ready to get going on the marriage thing, but this is important to me. Just wanted to vent a bit.
