- Wedding: August 2015
I went dress shopping over the weekend for the first time for my August wedding. There were two shops I was interested in that carry gently used, and sample donation dresses where the proceeds go to charity. I knew I wanted to purchase my dress from a shop that would put my money towards helping others- I just did not think I would walk out after one day with a dress in hand! I am normally that annoying type of person who thinks, and overthinks, and analyzes, and then researches, and thinks some more before making such a large purchase (heck- I do this with small things too!)- so it was completely out of character for me to make such a quick decision. When I walked out in this dress- it was not what I had originally pictured, but it was the first dress I put on that made me feel like I was getting married. My entorouge’s faces seemed to light up, complete strangers in the shop where cheering me on, and the volunteer who encouraged me to try the dress on had goose bumps (she had me feel her arms! lol!) I was so caught up in the moment, and excited by the prospect of where my money would go, I jumped right in on this decision and now I am scared I made a bad choice. I think this might be normal based on all of the posts I read from other ladies- but it is crazy stressful when you follow suit and jump on the dress regret bandwagon!
I think the dress is gorgeous, but I was originally looking for something with a little vintage-type flair, and while I did like the idea of a more ballgown shape (I think this flatters me the most) I did not picture something so grand, nor did I ever imagine I would buy something with beading on it. I am a very plain person. I wear a lot of solid, basic colors, nothing flashy. I am not really a “princess” type of person- so I am a bit surprised by what I chose. I am wondering if this dress looks a little too youthful for me? Is it too flashy? Do I look like I am going to a prom instead of a wedding? Is this dress at all flattering?! Am I a totally crazy person going through normal dress regret? Is there anything I should change to make the dress look a little better (more pronounced sweetheart, less tulle?- different dress altogether?) Help!! 🙂
I appologize in advance for the photos- I am uploading from my iPad, and the phone camera quality and lighting in the shop were not really working in my favor. I am also including a couple of photos of the model in this dress, and a photo of the venue so you get a better idea of what I am working with.
Any and all advice/opinions are welcome- thank you SO MUCH for your help!
