Why do you care so much what other people think about the name you choose?  You’ll never ever have a group of people who unanimously agree so just pick something you like!

Seems trendy, and the etymological origins are actually derived from “son of the fair warrior.” I know a lot of -son names get (unfortunately) used on girls, but if you are going to drag up the meaning, be sure to use the right one.

fromatoz :  Based on the other names, this sounds like it means Kinley as a boy’s name.  as such, no – b/c the first Kinley (Kinlee) I met was a girl so now it’s a girl name in my head.  As a girl’s name, I don’t like it and wouldn’t use it myself, but I don’t hate it either.  Doesn’t make my roll my eyes or anything.

Sounds like a girl’s name, I wouldn’t name my son that.

fromatoz :  I know you say this is just for fun, but if you don’t care, why bother bringing it up at all? You just lucked into one that was close to the actual meaning instead of some of those goofy sites that claim every single cluster of letters ever bestowed on a child means magical snowflake from heaven. Whatever you end up using, either try doing more than ten seconds of research on it or just don’t mention the “meaning” at all. I don’t see the point at all. If you like Kinley, use it. If you like Cheyenne, use it because none of us will ever know or care.
