- Wedding: December 2012
So. I have certainly become a bit dress crazy at this point, but I really have no where else to turn for unbiased opinions since my family thinks I am crazy to still be looking for a dress. I have to say that of ALL the decisions I have had to make for the wedding, picking THE DRESS has been the most stressful and least amount of fun. I thank all the bees who have been so helpful and supportive! I cannot believe how many dresses I have tried on and I do not know what is wrong with me that I cant just pick one and move on. It is actually getting exhausting. I guess it does not help that I have been going shopping alone because all of my friends and family live in a different city some 60 miles away from me. I mean, if I listened to every consultant that has helped me at a bridal salon I would probably own 100 dresses lol. But, I think I am done looking. I am HOPING that this will be my last “which dress” post but for now I would like to know which dress you think is better on me as well as for my wedding.
Background: I will be getting married in a very elegant/regal building and reception is in a ballroom. It will be december, winter. I want to look romantic and elegant but also have a WOW effect but still keep a wintery feel. I will be descending a staircase as my entrance to my ceremony. (For an idea of decor see my gallery… I previously posted my centerpieces). My wedding colors are ivory, gold and plum.
1st dress is allure: Beautiful in person. I am thinking it may be too busy and out there. I feel it may not be elegant/sophisticated enough for my vision. And too sparkly (in pictures). But it definitely has that WOW factor and very wintery.
2nd dress: Pronovias- stunning. This is a discontinued style so I would have to buy the sample as is (its not in too bad of shape) The dress is 2 sizes TOO BIG and i did not want them to clip it in case I were to buy it…I didnt want it to get damaged. i LOVE how it can both show off my shape (once its fitted to my body) but still has a dramatic bottom and train. And very elegant! Please keep in mind it does not look as great as it does when they pull it back and make it tighter/more fitted and also….most likely not wearing a belt (that is just what is holding the dress up without clips lol). I am worried that it is so big that the proportions may be off for my size and not so excited about buying a gown that is NOT new (although I love the gown itself). Should I be worried about alterations? I would love to hear your stories/experiences of buying gowns as samples or ones very big on you. O yeah, and the material is some type of taffeta and I am a little worried about that (I know that taffeta can sometimes look very shiny cheap in pictures) but it does seem to be a higher quality taffeta than a lot of other dresses I have tried and looks fine in person.
For reference this is what it looks like fitted….and it has a BEAUTIFUL train.
