- Wedding: August 2013
So prior to wedding planning, my Future Mother-In-Law was AWESOME! My Fiance and I are getting married in 51 days, and she decides tonight she has something to say. That something is that I am too young to know what I am doing, and am clearly marrying him only for his money (I am too pretty for her son apparently and am phyically out of his league…what mother says THAT?!). She feels that should something happen to him, all of his assets be returned to her family, to ensure I don’t steal her grandchildren away. She thinks we need a prenup. Now, I am young (21) and he is SLIGHTLY older (27). I am hardly Anna Nicole Smith. AND his finances are average. Yes, she has money, but he doesn’t. So it hardly makes sense. He then had the audacity to say that his mom thinks this, and so it should be done. If it was important to him, that would be one thing. But it’s NOT. It’s just to shut her up! I explained that a prenup is that I had offered and made clear if it was getting done, it would be sooner rather than later. Not a month and a half before our wedding. I just don’t get it. Sometimes I just wish I had a mute button for her!
