My fiance and I are having a cocktail and hors doeuvers reception which I think is great because everyone can just mingle and have fun. Problem is we have to have a transitional hour between the ceremony and the reception and it just seems redundant to say we are having a “cocktail hour” followed by a “cocktail and hors doeuvers reception”. We need the transitional hour because we need to move everyone out of the space after the ceremony so we can clear away chairs and reset the room for the reception.
Any suggestions on what else to call it?

Are you going to have different food and drinks served at each? The first part could be the cocktail hour and the second could be an Hors D’oeuvers Reception…

We are going to have more bite sized hors doevres (like crab cakes and stuffed mushrooms) at the reception and some heavier hors douevers at the reception (like sliders and fried calamari served in cones) so there are different hors douevres for the different times but the drinks will be the same at both. But I suppose we could just call it a cocktail hour and then call the other part an hors douvres reception.
“Social Hour” is also possibility…

I like Happy Hour! One of the venues I’m looking at calls the cocktail hour “Pre-Reception.”
