I’ve been thinking about save the dates right? I really like the magnet idea and I really like the postcard idea. So, I was trying to think of a way to combine them. Do you think this idea is possible:
Front of postcard glued to the front of magnet, Back of postcard glue to the back of the magnet. Ribbon around the edges to make sure the pieces don’t separate and hide the lines.
Is this a crazy idea or do you think it will work? Maybe I’ll try a sample one to see. This way they are the postcard I want and can stick on the fridge for an easy reminder.

I don’t really understand what you are proposing. Maybe a little clarification would help 🙂

so the postcard is a two sided magnet?

hmmm I am kind confused too…could you maybe glue the magnets togather so its more seemless?

Hmm, I guess that’s not very clear is it?
The front of the postcard (with the big picture) would go on the front of the magnet like a normal magnet. But the back of the magnet (side that sticks to fridge) would be covered with the back of the postcard (with the address and such). It would essentially be a sandwich. Does that help? I know that that would cover up all of the writing on the back, but the date and place will be on the front too. Maybe I’ll try to make one so y’all can see what I mean (and I can see if it’s doable).
Edit: And then I should mail it to myself to see if it holds up in the mail.

sounds interesting…. i’d check to be sure that it could be sent in the mail first. Try a sample first, for sure.

I totally understand what you’re saying. I think that would be a great idea. =)

Keep in mind it may cost more to send something like that because it weighs more. If you do it, make sure you send one to yourself first to make sure there are no problems.

so you mean make a magnet to look like a post card??

I get it. You’d need to make sure it’s a strong magnet. We got the ones from VP and they stick to the fridge, but can’t hold anything up, not even a receipt.
We sent magnets and postcards, and put them into a pocketfold, which we also made. There are pictures on my blog that I never update: http://jlsimon56.livejournal.com/

We did something similar for our stds, they were circular, with a magnet in between. It looks great! We didn’t send it like a postacard though, we put them in envelopes. Also, we DID use really strong magnets and because of that REALLY strong glue – be careful tho, the first glue we tried was too brittle when it dried and as the stds went thru the machines at the post office the popped away from their magnet innards! Hope that helps!

You can buy larger sizes of those magnets with a sticky side
Why not take one…..stick a postcard to one side and glue a postcard to the other side
So like an oreo….with a magnet in the middle. I think that would totally work
Post # 14
What type of glue did you end up using that worked?

I bought the magnets for the backing of my Save the Date at Staples:
Business Card Magnets, 100/Pack
I would see if these would work out for that.

It sounds like a great idea, but you might just want to mail them in envelopes instead of mailing them as postcards, because the extra weight from the magnet will probably mean you are paying the extra postage anyway. Then you woudn’t have to worry about them getting beat up or coming apart in transit!
