We did not register for anything that we would not buy for ourselves so it was real easy for us to finish getting our registry items.

The only things we bought after the fact were either things we exchanged for or things that we used gift cards for. We bought a set of towels from Macys that were more expensive than the ones we registered for and then literally the day we bought the towels we got home and our registry towels had arrived. We ended up keeping all of them. That was the only thing we bought for ourselves afterwards that we needed.

I would probably buy cheaper. In Canada, there are very few stores to register at. So, if we don’t get some items, we’ll probably just go to Walmart or Canadian. We registered at Sears, which has a lame completion policy (ie. coupons for 5% off)

@PitBulLover: same, even with our discounts we didnt really go buy anything that was on our registry except towels haha. we did have like 450 in target giftcards after returns (we got 3 spice racks and 2 kitchen aids) plus some giftcards. so we bought a vaccuum – not the dyson ball we registered for (sad sad sad face) as well as some other things, but i think the towels were the only thing on our registry that we bought after the fact.

@MissShork: This is were we are registered and I am kind of disappointed in the completion policy. If we get gift cards we will obviously spend them there, but if it is cash we will go buy what we want somewhere else for cheaper. We also found Sears on the expensive side for regular things (towels, kettle, etc.)

@Mrs.RDV: Yah, definitely dissappointed. The only other place to register in Saskatoon in the Bay, which seemed even pricer (but better policy). We decided to choose the cheaper option for our guests, but are hoping for cash to spend else where.

I would register at Bed, Bath and Beyond if I lived in Edmonton. Super cute stuff.

It depends on what the items are.  We have a lot of upgrades and fun but unnecessary stuff on our registry.  (we’ve been living together for a while so that was a way to beef up the registry to more than 5 items).  If we don’t get those items then we won’t buy them.  But then we have some things we legitimately need in which case we would buy the exact item we registered for.

We didn’t really register for appliances or kitchen gadgets.  Most of what our C&B registry is C&B exclusive, so we’re definitely planning on just completing the registry as is.

I think it depends. If I get some china/flatware then I will eventually try to complete the set (probably up to 6 settings). But if I don’t get any of it.. then I’m just not getting it at all. As far as appliances go, we probably will downgrade on some items (if we really need them) and forego other items. But who knows what we’ll actually do when that time comes 🙂
