Since the topic of money came up also as a major restriction to traveling. Does anyone out there track how much they actually spend traveling? How much do you think you’ve spent in your life time or average per year on traveling? Or what percentage of your income go toward travel?

Until this year I’ve had little time or money to travel, the only trips I went on were up to my parents, or to random places nearby, but nothing I would call a vacation.
This year we spending in the $7500 upwards range 😮

I usually do 2 vacations per year for about a week each. Almost always, one of those is a week in Mexico at an all -inclusive. So that’s about $800-$1000. And the other one is either another all-inclusive/ cruise or international. Depends on finances. The last 3 years, I’ve gone to Israel for 10 days every year. Next year, I plan on a trip to Amsterdam to visit SO’s family. This summer, I’m hoping to do a few weekend trips since I can’t take a week off from my externship. I’m planning a camping trip and a trip to a Canada safari. Although I’m a law student, travel is really important to me so I always budget for it. I feel like I “deserve it” because of the stress of school all year. haha

the honeymoon will be the most money i ever spent by far. we hardly ever go on vacation – we just can’t afford it.

Well typically we don’t really go anywhere far due to money. We’ll spend like a weekend or half a week up with his family which is only a 3.5 hour drive. Maybe we’ll go to universal or something when we’re there. When we lived in Tampa we had annual passes to Adventure Island, Busch Gardens, and Sea World, so whenever we had a day off together we would just grab an early lunch somewhere and spend the afternoon at one of these places. Super cheap and fun day when you don’t have to buy food.
This year is the most expensive vacation year… We’ve spent so much already and we’re only going to spend more. We went to Ohio to visit our Best Friends in January for about a week. FI’s sister had a commitment ceremony in Key West at the end of March, so we were in Key West for 4 nights. Now we have our own wedding and honeymoon coming up…
Our best friends that live down here are moving to New York… I can definitely see another trip up North possibly next year. I don’t want to go in January again though… I hate cold weather. I moved to Florida from Pennsylvania for a reason!

We love traveling. Just little weekend trip somewhere with a big trip maybe once a year. I would say the little trips add up to maybe $2500 a year, and the big trip is $4-5000?

I love to travel and I travel as much as I can. I’ve easily spent over 10k in my lifetime on trips. I’m pretty sure that I spent 10k or close to it on one trip a few years back…. lol
ETA: Misread and thought it was in lifetime. BUT, prior to getting married, it was typical to spend at least $5-7k in a year and at times as high as $10k+. Now it’s closer to $3k.

We try to do one nice trip a year- we’ve gone to Northern Cali (San Fran, Yosemite), Vancouver and Whistler, Hawaii, and this year we went to Ireland. For our honeymoon we want to go to Australia and New Zealand!

we try to do one trip every year out of the country – usually to the carribean. usually around 2k-2500 for the both of us. our honeymoon was 5k though. We try to do weekend trips through out the summer here and there on the cheap so i said between 2501 and 5k for a year.

We do a european vacation every year. We try hard to do it on the cheap, but it’s still prob 4-5k. And we travel a couple other times a year for family vacations and weekend stays.
Worth every single penny!

We do a fairly nice $3-4000 trip for the last four years. And then also go to our respective “homes” which we budget a thiusand dollars a year or so for Last year was the blowout though. We spent $12,000 for three weeks in Europe and another $5000 for a week in Maui. Needless to say last year was a splurge not likely to be done again soon.

In one year, just for myself I probably spend less than $1k on trips but it depends on how far I am going. I probably end up going to Vietnam 1 day and that would definitely cost me at least $5k.

I’ve never truly been on vacation, so $0!
The idea of going on vacation kind of freaks me out…all that money and no tangible items (except souvenirs) to show for it.
My fiance and I might try a one or two night stay at a bed & breakfast this year…but I’m not sure.
