From the pictures you posted, I think I prefer the mermaid on you. But it’s tough to see the detail on the A-line from afar, whereas you can see the beading/detail of the mermaid. But it really depends on what look you’re going for!

The A-line looks amazing on you!

Go with the dress you love the most. Don’t let the fact that other people can’t pull off mermaids very well affect your decision. But, if you like the mermaid dress the best, then choose that one!

I had a similar sitation with a mermaid dress, and although everyone told me I looked amazing in it, all I could look at was my hips, since I’m self-conscious about the width of my hips. So I decided on a ballgown and I was so much more comfortable during my wedding day and I don’t have a body part I nit-pick when I look at my wedding photos, which is great!

Anyways you may not relate to what I said at all, but choose the dress that you feel the most confident and beautiful in!

I’d say absolutely choose which dress you feel most confident in.

I think both are beautiful, but I honestly think the mermaid compliments your figure best. I think it makes you look a little more sophisticated with the v-neck back.

Both of those look amazing on you!

I’d say go with the mermaid if it’s comfortable enough for you and you feel great in it, but honestly you can’t go wrong either way.

kenzie1996 :  you can’t go wrong either way. What do you normally wear? Is this the one time you’ll wear a fitted dress because you typically buy dresses with fuller skirts? Or do you usually go for bodycon dresses and this is really your one opportunity to be princessy?

if it were me, I’d go with the fitted dress (btw, it’s not a mermaid (: that dress is a trumpet)

I can see why you are confused, you look amazing in both! I voted a-line because you would be more comfortable. I also prefer them over mermaids so I’m a bit biased

kenzie1996 :  I’m normally for A-line gowns but you look WAAAY better with the mermaid/trumphet, whatever it is.

kenzie1996 :  The a-line is much more elegant, and it does look great on you.

kenzie1996 :  I absolutely love mermaid dresses and how they look with the right figure, but my mother made a very good point that I should consider how it might be difficult to move around and dance, use the bathroom, and how sitting down might affect the fit of the dress. Obviously all of those things will be easier with the A-line dress and is my only argument against the form fitting dress.

How much time do you have to choose a dress? Maybe sit on the idea for a few weeks and then go back and try the dresses on again if you can, then perhaps it’ll be easier to clearly see which you prefer?
