kenzie1996 :  That is actually what helped me make my final decision between two dresses when I was looking.  I chose the dress that showed detail easily in pictures because ultimately I wanted those details to easily show in any pictures that are taken the day of wedding.

kenzie1996 :  I always vote for the a-line, it’s my preferred silhouette, I tend to think they look more ‘bridal’ and I actually opened this thread just to vote for the a-line! However, in your case, that mermaid is incredible. The neckline is more feminine, the back is stunning and the way it’s hugging your hips is absolute perfection! The a-line is really beautiful but I find the straight neckline to be really harsh and I think the mermaid will photograph better.  For your concerns, I would just make sure you can sit comfortably and that it’s not a very heavy gown (because that would be exhausting). You’re going to have to pull a bunch of material up to go to the bathroom regardless of which dress you choose, so as long as you can pull the most narrow part of the skirt over your hips, you’ll be fine!

Seriously, seriously difficult choice! No wonder you need a poll. I voted for the A line for it’s absolute classicism but by God you look good in the other one too. You look like you could wear any dress and look fabulous. You should become a wedding dress model.

Although you are not seeking accessory advice, the colour and style of both dresses would lend itself to a strand of pearls I think.

I always pick a-lines, I did go back and forth on this one though but ultimately still voted a-line. I just love how it emphasises your little waist, and comfort is key for me! If you like the lower V-back on the mermaid you might be able to alter the back of the a-line to be similar? I might also possibly dip the neckline into a sweetheart.

I think the mermaid (or fit & flare) looks great on you. But it comes down to what you think is more “you” and what feeling you want to project on the day, a bit more sexy (but tasteful of course) which a figure hugging dress will help achieve or more romantic / innocent, which an A line will help achieve.

I had the same dilemma when trying on two dresses yesterday, similar bodice (lace deep v with illusion neckline). And my friend who went with me thought the fit & flare looked better and just fit me really well. But on second try of both dresses, I think I much liked the A line which felt like a good balance for the more sexy neckline and brought back a bit more romance into the look. I’m going to try on more dresses and go back to try those two dresses again.

If you feel underwhelmed with the A line, don’t get it. Just look for another dress in that style. A line can definitely have intricate and interesting details (mainly in the bodice). I tried on several A lines which I wasn’t blown away by until I found the deep v neckline ones which I found really flattering (especially if you have smaller boobs).

I wouldn’t say the look of the A line on you blew me away I think because it’s hard to see the details and it does look a bit simple (unless that’s what you like). Also I personally don’t think strapless look that flattering on anyone including myself whe I tried it on, I just think they make shoulders look bigger even if you have small shoulders. I suggest you consider trying A lines in other necklines to see if there’s any others that you like better.

PS: I also found the fit & flare a bit harder to move around in, so that’s definitely a consideration.

I think you have a lovely slim figure and would probably look great in any dress. However, sorry to say but I  find both these dresses a little boring. If I HAD to choose I’d probably pick number 1 but if it was me I would probably keep lookint for something a bit more unique.

kenzie1996 :  That is a good point.  This may help – try not to think of the dresses and just think about the overall look you want for your wedding.  i.e for me I was in the same perdicament and it was soo hard to pick one dress over the other.  Both dresses had beautiful detailing but in pictures one dress detailing showed under certain lighting and the other showed in all lighting.  I decided I didnt want the details on my wedding dress to only show under certain conditions.  Once you really figure out what look you want for your day you will be able to decide.  Do you want dramatic or subtle etc.

kenzie1996 :  Inspired choice! Comfort matters as well as aesthetics.  You won’t regreat your choice I am sure.
