Well bees, we’re here in sunny (for now) Seattle!
It has almost been a full month since Darling Husband got the job offer, and can you believe this is his second week at his new job? This whole process happened very, very quickly. Two weeks ago we were preparing for a three and a half day road trip. We drove a car with some essentials and our two cats, and my in-laws took a rental car and accompanied us on the journey. We drove through NM, Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Oregon, and finally Washington. The cats did great, and we made it into Seattle on a Saturday afternoon. The in-laws helped us settle into the new apartment, we did some exploring, and Darling Husband started work that Monday. I stayed in Seattle until last Wednesday, flew back to San Antonio to wrap up things at my old job, and flew back to Seattle for good this past Saturday.
Now you know why I’ve been a bit MIA around the bee. It’s been crazy in the littlemisst08 household! My parents and siblings flew up with me Saturday and we explored the city for a few days. They went back to TX this morning, leaving Darling Husband and I alone for the first time since we moved here. While it was wonderful having family here with us, I think we both welcome the chance to get a routine in place and establish ourselves here as a couple.
We are loving our new neighborhood, and the fact that we can walk to everything. I keep hearing about parades and car shows and other fun neighborhood events that will happen when the weather is nicer. Speaking of, the weather isn’t so bad, though I did buy a hooded raincoat the second day we were in town! Today was stunningly beautiful, and the next two days or so should be pretty as well. Darling Husband and I have been loving the food and craft beer around here! Ah, everything tastes so fresh and wonderful!
Darling Husband is settling into his job very well, and he’s enjoying the new challenges it presents. I have started my job hunt in earnest, so cross your fingers for me, bees!
It’s been tough saying goodbye to our families, but technology should be a great ally as we utilize skype and facetime to communicate with them. I don’t think we’ve had enough time to get homesick, though. We do miss our friends, especially when they post to facebook that they’re all together. Thankfully we found the local alumni group from our university, and we plan to attend some events soon so we can meet people. I’m also eagerly looking forward to the Seattle WB meetup at the end of the month!
So that’s our story! A cross country move in less than a month. It’s been overwhelming, but I’ve had the amazing support and love of family, friends, and internet friends (that’s you!). Thanks for listening again. If I have any problems, because of this move or not, I know I can come here for a good sounding board. <3
