Fiance wants to do save the dates but Im not sold on the idea… was wanting to compromise so that we would send out an engagement pic with something written on it instead of “save the date” for our wedding.
Whats another way of saying “save the date”?

Engagement announcement? 🙂

You could just put “We’re getting married!” and put your wedding date.

gettin hitched, tying the knot… I saw one that said “the best has yet to come”
my favorite I’ve seen I think it was on minted.com said something like “forever begins (date)”

I actually included an insert in my Christmas cards. I generally don’t do a “Christmas Letter,” but I did that year so that I could tell the story of my then Fiance and me — how we met, the fact that we were engaged, and that we were getting married in May. This approach allowed me to get the news out without actually tipping my hand as to whether or not the person would be invited to the wedding.
Since a number of friends and family were definitely going to be on our guest list, I handwrote a note in the cards of those whom I knew for sure I would be inviting, telling them the actual date and that they would be receiving an invitation. I was then able to add others to our guest list later, once we had finalized the list.

@mgnt: Not much help, but we did a slightly different spin on how to display save the date–we are scrabble nerds 🙂 So you could do a fun way of showing the words, regardless whatever saying you choose
