Do you have any friends/family in the restaurant or bar business? FI’s cousin just opened a restaurant and was able to order our wine and champagne at cost. We were able to pay $7 bottle for $20 a bottle wine. Also try Costco maybe?

You might be able to get Ménage à Trois for the price you want if you buy wholesale.  I’ve noticed some of their varieties in stores for less than $10 a bottle.  If you have chardonnay drinkers, I’ve been enjoying Chateau St. Jean’s chardonnay quite a bit lately.  It also retails for $9-10 a bottle, so you should be able to get it in bulk for a good price.

I think BevMo is doing one of its 5¢ sales right now.  A lot of the wines that are slow to move are included.  You buy the first bottle at regular price and get the second for five cents.  It could work for you if you don’t mind taking a chance on some obscure labels.

I’d recommend hosting a little tasting party, and open a bunch of bottles of mid-priced wine (go to a big wine/liquor store and just buy a lot of wines in that range), and then you can try them and choose your favorites.  Also, I know a lot of stores around here have deals where if you buy 6 bottles, you get 10% off, etc.  So shop around, and I’m sure you’ll be able to find something.

I just discovered a temperanillo by Mesta that’s $6.99 a bottle at my local store and really awesome.  I’m sure it can be done.

Robert Mondavi is a decent brand that goes on sale under $10 a bottle. That’s what I would’ve bought if we didn’t get the hookup from FI’s cousin. I think its made somewhere in CA.

A lot of folks in my circle like Little Penguin or YellowTail – both happen to be Australian and about 6-8 dollars or so a bottle around here.

If you have time, I’d recommend just going to the liquor store and trying a few different ones in your price range over a couple of weeks and find the ones that are most satisfactory!

Santa Rita makes some pretty good wines.

I would stick to well known good wines (Australia, California, Italy) and don’t experiment with younger wine regions (Chilean, Argentina etc…).

What are you eating for your meal?

Robert modavi is fantastic. In Canada it sells for $15+/bottle!

You guys are so lucky booze is so cheap down there!
