Don’t do a zebra dress, that would not look right.  You could do a black dress with a sash in your color to add a pop and make it less “funeral”.  For an April wedding, I would recommend turquoise.  It is more spring and you can really play with flowers that time of year.  Red, black and white is gorgeous, but more of a fall/winter combination.  If your Maid/Matron of Honor wants to feel more special than the other girls, she can wear a different length gown than the rest, or she can even just wear her haid a certain way.  Your Maid/Matron of Honor needs to realize that its YOUR wedding, not hers.  YOU are the bride and need to stand out.  She doesn’t need something different than the rest of your bridesmaids.  Here is a link to a DB sash that you can add with almost any bridesmaids dress.  This will make the black look less intimidating.

We’re doing little black dresses. I’ve heard the same thing – funeral – but personally, I think it can look very classy.

What about a black dress with a zebra bow/sash and turquoise jewelry? And no offence, but I think a size 36 zebra dress would look a little bit like..a zebra. Black is slimming, not zebra print.

I think black bridesmaids dresses can work perfectly with an evening or more formal wedding.  Perhaps you can add touches of color/zebra with the shoes?  If your Maid/Matron of Honor insists on being the zebra queen during the wedding, she could wear something understated like these shoes below and the Maids could wear blue or red.  Good luck!

A lot of people are anti black dress but it’s your wedding.  Black is slimming after all, stripes aren’t!  If you can’t decide on the colour now you could always add a sash at a later date, then it wont be totally black. Oh, and I like the turquoise idea.

We are doing black dresses and they look really pretty! I think its hard for people to picture black.. you hear it and automatically shut down. I say maybe you could have the girls wear whatever color (black or turquiose) with the zebra shoes. Or even a black and white necklace or something. I think if you had zebra dresses that it would kinda look like…..a herd of zebras?

I think pops of zebra here and there would be really cute! My BMs are wearing black dresses of their choice, and I think its going to look great. You can do zebra ribbon, or zebra shoes… I’ve even seen zebra candles before. I think as long as you keep it as an accent you’ll be fine!

I love the zebra accents!!  I really like the zebra shoes too.  My friend got married and wore zebra flats(from target or old navy) and it looked really good.

OMG I love zebras & I love this thread. Those shoes!!!

Months ago I threatened my sister (MOH) that I’d make her wear a zebra print dress, she was a bit unsure but was like “ok… if that’s what you REALLY want…. ” :S    then I let her off the hook.

But those are some killer ideas up there, I think if you had just a few touches of zebra, it could look amazing. Just not wall to wall 🙂
