A nice quote from one of these assholes, Rep. Barry Hovis when disccusing the abortion bill in Missouri today: “Most instances of rape are date rape and consensual rape”.

Can anyone tell me what the fuck consensual rape is?

futuremrs2020 :  i believe it’s in the same place where Tod “Legitimate Rape” Aiken got his definition.

That pregnancy can not happen as a result of “legitimate rape” because the body has ways of shutting that down.

He gave us that gem in 2012. We have had many disgusting additons since then

Just 31% of Alabamians support an abortion ban like the one that was signed into law this week. Not only does it represent a gross infringement on the rights of women in Alabama, but it does not represent the will of the people those lawmakers were elected to represent.

Men are responsible for 100% of pregnancies and yet women bear all of the medical risk of carrying a unwanted pregnancy to term.

At the end of the day it’s plain old misogyny, dressed up in fancy righteous clothing.

futuremrs2020 :  those last two I hadn’t heard before. What the actual fuck? I don’t normally condone violence, but I really want to see Clayton Williams “relax and enjoy it” if he’s ever raped.

DeniseSecunda :  I agree, and truly cannot understand the idea of a conservative woman. It’s the definition of attempting to suppress one’s own rights…and for what? It’s like conservative male toxicity has rooted itself so deeply that it has some of us *begging* to have our own rights stripped away! And as for the religion thing—people only wanna be Christlike when it benefits them.

Religion in itself is problematic because it gives the worst among humans something to hide behind while they’re harming others. Sure, I’m painting it with a broad brush based on extremism—however, I think that because conservatives have been so harmful (since the dawn of time, honestly), then the broad brush is quite warranted. But I suppose that’s another soapbox topic for another day :/

When businesses refuse to do business in states with these archaic wanna-be laws something will change. I’m afraid until then we’ll have to wait for the Supreme Court. God help us.

If you don’t vote–vote! Write your representatives. The minority is winning because the majority fails to act consistently.

LilliV :  Right? I actually had to google a couple of these to see if they were real because I just can’t believe anyone would be this stupid. It is truly mind blowing that these people even exist.

To add to my point about medical risk: the maternal mortality rate in the United States is 23.8 deaths per 100k. The mortality rate for active duty service members in the United States last year was 2.3 per 100k.

It is ten times more dangerous to be a pregnant women in America than to be an active duty service member and yet lawmakers want to force women to carry unwanted pregnancies to term.

Ugh I’m so sick of this topic and the “Christians” who support it. You’re telling me that baking a cake for a gay couple is a violation of liberty, and then you go and pull this shit? I can’t with this.

My abortion was the best decision I’ve ever made. Yes it was a physically uncomfortable process, but it gave me back my freedom and I have never once regretted it. I shudder to think of what my life would look like if I had to be tied to that horrible ex-boyfriend forever.

happiekrappie :  I mostly can’t understand conservative mothers. They’ve been pregnant and given birth. They understand that it isn’t some walk in the park or minor inconvenience. After I had my daughter someone asked me if my stance on abortion changed and my response was that it only strengthened my belief in a woman’s choice.

“Cleaned out”

What the fuck do they think goes on during these rape kits? A woman who has already had her personal space and body invaded has to endure being poked and prodded for evidence on the SLIGHT off chance that the man who raped her is going to get prosecuted. In fact, a woman who is about to get a rape kit done or deciedes to get a rape kit done is advised to not even take a shower for fear she destroy the precious evidence that probably won’t even put him behind bars, and if it does how long is going to get? A year?

What kind of fucking country puts women in jail for abortion LONGER than the actual rapists who created the situation in the first place?

JFC.
