So I got engaged last January (2010), but just discovered the wonderfulness that is Weddingbee recently. I’m a little late to the party, but here’s my engagement ring nonetheless. It’s a black diamond in an antique white gold setting, with 6 small white diamonds running along the sides of the band. I love it! I think it speaks really well to who we are as a couple…we’re pretty freaking non-traditional, but still have a small bit of a traditional side to us for good measure. Why not, right? =o)
So, the question is…do I get the matching band or not? I’ve talked to several brides who are foregoing a band and choose to have their larger stone ring be the only thing they wear. FYI: The band would NOT be flush with the engagement ring, because the stone sits really low.
Anyway, I really love how the engagement ring looks alone, but I also like the matching band…ugh. I just don’t know! Here it is with the band:

I am swooning over your ring over here, black diamonds are gorgeous! I really do like the band with it too; matching sets are so lovely.
If you don’t want the matching band, are you going to get a band at all?

for my ring, I’m getting a plain band. It won’t sit flush either, but I don’t want any more stone to clutter the look of my e-ring.

@Gingersnap Nope, I’d just wear the original ring. Because the setting is kind of ornate, I don’t think it’d look good with a plain band or a band that isn’t super super super similiar.

@helenberrycrunch: Yours looks great with a simple band! Your stone is also a lot bigger than mine so I think the simple band works really well.

Your ring is GORGEOUS! I love it! I’d get the band. I think it’ll complement your ring really nicely.

@lambobble: it looks much larger than it is. It’s only about one carat.

I love your ring! And the matching band too 🙂 I personally don’t mind “the gap” between the e-ring and the wedding band.
