I’m also 36 and getting married for the first time.  I have been engaged a few times but always knew they just weren’t right for me.  I plan to do this once and wanted it to be with the man I knew I would be holding hands with when i’m old(er) and (more) wrinkly LOL Not that I’m a wrinkled old hag now….but ya know! I’m glad that I waited and feel that I’m better equipped to handle the pressures of making this our day as well as being able to face any of life’s challenges to truly sustain this marriage.

**Cheers to my fellow 30+ brides** Feels good to know I am far from alone on this one!

I was engaged at 24, but called it off. There were too many things that I still wanted to do that I didn’t think I’d be able to once I was married. I was right. He ended up marrying another girl a few years later. They are perfectly happy, but I knew I wasn’t ready. All of our friends were getting married around that time, so I think there was a lot of pressure as well. Some are still married; some aren’t.

I found the man of my dreams and married him in October. I was 39 and he was 40. And everything about us is so right.  ๐Ÿ™‚  I’m so glad I waited.

YAY….35 + brides!!  I am also 35 and will be married this year.  I am happy that I am getting married in my 30’s.  In my 20’s it was all about me…my career and travelling.  Now I can feel that I can finally settle down and not have any regrets.  I also know who I am and what I expect from my other half.  I love being in my 30’s…I just feel so secure and confident.  Congratulations to all the beautiful 30 +brides!

Getting married in my 20’s would be atrocious! I’m 35 and will be 36 when I get hitched. It’s perfect timing for me. I’ve had great adventures and now I’m ready to make more with my FH. Awesome! It was worth the wait!

I’m 38 and will be 39 when I get married for the first time!  I wouldn’t have done it any other way! My Fiance is 44 and will be 45 on our wedding day.  This is his 2nd marriage. I can’t wait and am enjoying every second of our engagement and wedding planning!

@hon75:  *delayed reaction* I just saw your reply – sorry!

The shopping was, well, interesting. I looked at myself in all these wedding dresses and thought “who is this person?”. None of them felt at all like me – I felt faintly ridiculous wearing them.

Then again, my dream was never to wear a white wedding dress. If I had any thoughts about a wedding dress, it was that I wanted to wear a red dress. I changed my mind on the dream and decided that blue would go better with our venue, bridesmaid and theme. But I’m still wearing a red dress for the reception.

And I’m getting both of them made from scratch, by a dressmaker. Two dresses for about $1300 in total. Much cheaper than the ridiculous prices you have to pay for (plus size) wedding dresses in this country.

I actually bought my fabic today – kind of a shimmery purply dark blue chiffon for the top layer, navy duchess satin underneath that. The chiffon’s going to be draped over the satin and beaded on top of that. And I’m wearing a navy feather bolero – the dress is going to be a bit 1930s inspired. These dresses are my inspiration for how I want to look:

I’m 39 and it will be my first (only Smile) marriage. He’s 40 and it’s his second, neither of us have kids and we’re not going to.
We’re eloping next month.
