Hi girls!!! I’m planning my wedding to take place at Sandals Negril Beach Resort & Spa (in July). Eeeekk!! There is so much to do still!!!! I was wondering if Sandals brides who are going through the same process have any advice/input. Also from the veterans 🙂
I also just have my first crisis!! I received the wedding packet in which it stated that no outside vendors are allowed. Which is fine, except for the fact that this meant that I can’t have an outside photographer :[. I was wondering if any Sandals bride was able to bypass this and allow an outside photographer to take pictures of their wedding. This would be really frustrating/devastaing if I can’t have someone outside to do it…….I just find this ridiculous especially since we are hiring Sandalsto basically to do everything else.

I’m sorry that you are in this situation. You can certainly ask the venue if they will allow you to bring in your own photographer, but if you have already signed a contract that requires you to use preferred vendors you will have very little leverage in your negotiations. Venues make money by demanding kickbacks from their preferred vendors, and they don’t want to lose this source of revenue.

Actually you can check with the hotel coordinator. Sometimes if you tell them that the photographer is a family friend and will also stay at the resort, the cooridnator might allow it. Make sure to get written approval to be safe though.

Just wanted to share some insight. I did not get married at Sandles, but my brother did. Actually the same Sandles, Negril in May 2005. It was FABULOUS – yall will have such a fun time.
Anyway, I digress. They used the standard hotel package and the hotel photographer and their pics turned out great! I understand wanting to have your own and perhaps as the other ladies mentioned you could leverage your way into one, but at least when we were there they did great shots. They had a lot of different poses – on the beach, at the alter, in the trees/flowers – standing up, sitting down, alone, together, family shots, etc…
My brother and wife were very pleased with the work. Their package they only got to choose 25 pictures, not sure what your’s may be, but this was their 2nd wedding too.

I didn’t realize when I attached the pics I would send my comment.
To finish, this was their second wedding so they didn’t want as much as some of us first time brides and I don’t think they had quite the expectations that I have for my first wedding in September. It was just different for them this time around as they’d done the big church wedding/reception before.
Just my two cents – we all took pictures at the wedding and even though they aren’t professional quality they were still amazing! Don’t let this get you into crisis mode! It’ll work out and you’re marrying your BFF in an amazing locale! I wanted to do it this way, but my Fiance and his family weren’t for the long distance trip! Have fun!!! I’m a little green with envy right now, especially after going back and digging out my bro’s pics!

Oh, I really liked Ipod girl’s plan! I think that might be your best shot.

Is this still true? We have a friend who has offered up his services – should we just have him as a guest and let him take pics like any normal guest would, albeit more professional? Help!
