@candy08:

I live in CA and I’m getting married in GA, where my fiance is. If I can do it, you can too!!! 5 hours is a long time, but do you have weekends off where you can go to your hometown on a Friday night, spend Saturday wedding planning and then come home on Sunday a few times? Spend the night on your parent’s or a relative’s couch.

For me, wedding planning became a headache, so my Mother-In-Law has done a lot of it, my fiance has done a bunch and I’ve just had to make the final decisions. By the time I move out there, all the wedding planning will have been done and I preferred it that way.

Perhaps you can have your family narrow down the choices, then you can come home a long weeknd and make the rounds to eat cake, check out venues, etc.

I am in the same boat, and am having my wedding back home (if we don’t elope) so more people can come. Also, that way I don’t have to worry about inviting bosses/coworkers 😛
