My fiancee and I are on a tight budget, we are trying not to go too much over 10k (10-15k)for the wedding (not including rings and honeymoon). We are pretty much open to any ideas including renting a loft to banquet halls. Does anyone have any good detailed tips and advice? We were thinking of renting a space and findind cool food trucks to cater since we want a “being New Yorker” theme. Thanks!

@patrina How many guests are you having?
I would suggest a ceremony at Brooklyn Bridge Park ($25 permit) gorgeous backdrop. Reception at Galapagos Art Space. Here’s some photos from a similar wedding: http://www.stylemepretty.com/new-york-weddings/2013/06/17/new-york-wedding-at-galapagos-art-space-from-sara-wight-photography/
Depending on the number of guests, I would suggest getting married in a restaurant OR getting married during a weekday or even during the afternoon so that you can be in a better negotiating position with vendors.

Dumbo loft is reasonable, at least that’s what I heard.

We are having our reception at 202 East on 77th Street. The prices are very competitive and you have the options of including their rentals and staff, which saves a lot from sourcing them from elsewhere. The space is very pretty, and if I didn’t want a church wedding, I’d probably do a short ceremony in Central Park, which is practically free– just permits.

@Patrina: Hi! We’re trying to make the same budget work in NYC, only in August. I’d love to collaborate. I’m having a tough time finding a venue.
