I got my BA in a liberal art, but would like to explore accounting as a possible career. Any advice?
In school I worked for an accountant doing the office worker thing. Now, out of school a couple of years, I’m still doing the office worker thing, but was really interested in what I saw while working for my accountant bosses. Unfortunately, it seems that I’m stuck with general office work since I don’t have the right degree. Unless, in three or so years, I want to try for an MBA… but I still prefer straight accounting to management (from what I’ve seen).
Any advice on how to proceed? Go back for an accounting undergrad degree? Try to find a business program that will let me test the accounting waters? Internships (I’ve not found any that hire non-econ/math/business etc degrees)? Something else?
