Awesome! I understand about distance planning. I love the idea of the big tent on the water for your reception. That will be beautiful! πŸ™‚

Wow, I got my dress the first week of October! LOL We weren’t too far apart with our purchases. I’m like you, I wanted to make sure I have things in order… especially since there are lots of other details to worry about.

Well, we are still debating wedding companies in Niagara but will be paying in full in November for the one we choose. We are currently looking at hotels in the area to block rooms for our guests. We have settled to have the wedding at 7 p.m. at the brink, then we will all travel to a restaurant for dinner (there is one within walking distance), and we will go back to the falls at 10 p.m. for the fireworks πŸ™‚ Included in our wedding package will be our ceremony, photographer with 60-80 photos, videographer, and flowers.

On August 25th, we will be having our reception in Northern IN (where we are originally from). We have already secured the reception hall and chosen the menu. (It’s a country club overlooking the golf course with a patio and a courtyard for cocktails). My dad’s friend is a DJ and for our wedding gift, he’s going to DJ at no charge for the day. My dad’s other friend is a photographer, so we are planning to take pictures of the reception as well to create one big wedding album! We rented a large flat screen TV that will be set up in the venue to play the video of the wedding for our guests that couldn’t attend (it will be too far for our grandparents). The wedding company said they will put a rush on the video so we can have it by the reception!

I have started putting together reception ideas for decoration with my aunt. She is wonderful at decorating, and I’m lucky to have her help! She is going to assist with setting it up and she even has vases to use for centerpieces so I don’t have to worry about buying!

Whew… sorry, I got excited to share some details πŸ™‚

How about you? Have you made any more plans for your big day?

@jennyDtobe: Yes, we are excited about the fireworks!! It will be fun for our guests. This is like our wedding/honeymoon, so we are making it as fun and memorable as possible. I’m very lucky that friends of the family are so willing to chip in their talents for the day for free– DJ’s and Photographers are not cheap! I really love the fact we will be playing the wedding at the reception, too! It’s neat… we are going to have the wedding play and while the guests are watching, we will be getting dressed back up into our wedding gear πŸ™‚ Then when the video ends, the lights will brighten back and the DJ will announce us in! I think it’s really a cool way to do it!

Awesome you got your DJ and photographer all set-and thank goodness you got recommendations! That helps put your mind at ease because you know they do a good job.

Teal Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses! Awesome! πŸ™‚ We are doing Tiffany Blue and Dark Orange for the colors… girls will wear black dresses with Tiffany Blue sashes… guys will have Dark Orange ties! My mom’s dress is teal so that it will be different but still blend well. πŸ™‚ I love teal, too! It’s such a pretty color. It really goes well with your reception decor ideas, too!

The trolley would be amazing!!! πŸ™‚ I love that idea. It’s something different for transpo. How cool!

I have seen the photobooths and they are really awesome! I know someone who did one for their reception and everyone just loved it!

I think we are going to do a backdrop for the photographer to use… kind of like a “VIP” photo op! I liked that idea and am researching further… haven’t quite decided yet.

Since you are embracing the beach theme for decor, have you seen the adorable little beach chair tealight candle holders?!? Those might be cute to incorporate.

To be honest, I haven’t even looked at jewelry or shoes… HAH! I better get to it πŸ™‚ I think I need to find jewelry that has crystals… my dress is fairly simple , but does have swarovski detailing and a little beading. I’m sure I will find something πŸ™‚ I can’t decide on shoes… I think I’m doing flats since I will be doing a lot of outside walking… and no one really sees the shoes because the dress will hide them πŸ™‚ But of course I’m torn because I would love the extra pretty shoes for the day… hmm..

I did, however, get my cake set! I am obsessed with having an incredible cake. One of the finalist contestants from Cake Boss’s the Next Great Baker lives in the area of my reception and she was able to create my cake! She is an artist and a baker. I got the draw up draft of my cake and she is sending samples in the mail… I am so over the moon excited and pleased with the cake! πŸ™‚ It has tie-dye fondant so it looks like “the falls”! Then, dark orange lillies cascade down the side. At the base, she is making edible “white river rocks” out of oreos dipped in chocolate and little “crystals” which are just hard candies she will create to match the motif.

It feels like it’s all piecing together… little by little, right? πŸ™‚

Keep me posted! I’m glad I have a date twin! It’s fun to discuss our plans!
