I’ve booked our venue, photographer and ordered save the dates so far, but I haven’t been dress shopping… Well, only online of course! Is that normal? I feel like most bees already have their dress. I am thinking about going shopping in October/ November bc I am in the process of loosing weight.
Any bees out there who feel the same? PLEASE make me feel like I am not an unorganized bride

@anni_bride: I haven’t been. I’ve not done anything other than find the venue.

@anni_bride: There is no set time to go shopping. Just think some people plan their weddings in a year or less and we haven’t even hit the year mark so you have time.
I would just consider where you are getting it from and the desinger because sometimes it can take a while to come in. I ordered mine in March and it won’t be here til November or December. But then I had a friend who got hers at Davids Bridal and it was in 2 weeks later. So just think about that.
And then loosing weight is great BUT unless you are loosing a significant amount, it won’t make too much of a difference because you will have alterations and they can fix a size or so. My dress place even includes it.
But in the end go when you feel comfortable 🙂 You still have time.

I’m planning on going as late as possible as a) I’m trying to loose some weight & b) I change my mind A LOT!
I’m going to go in January and take it from there 🙂

I haven’t gone at all!!! I also have the venue, DJ, looking in to photographers but I have been saving dress shopping because I also am worried about dress regret and I kinda want to lose a few pounds too… I will probably go in the next few weeks though to start browsing cause I start school again in September and I feel like it won’t be as fun when I am stressed.
Don’t worry though. I think it takes like 6-8 months to order/alter a dress so we have plenty of time 🙂

This board made me feel really behind too!
I went for the first time a few weeks ago and I made another appointment for next week. I’m trying to get more serious about it, but it’s not my favorite part of the wedding experience. Trying them on is fun. Making a decision is going to be torturous. 🙂
I think your timeline is fine.

Thanks bees! That makes me feel a lot better
@koi424: Well, I hope it’s fun. I am sooo anxious that even trying it one will make me feel bad. I am not the skinniest person (size 10) but I want to feel gorgeous!

I have no desire for a white dress so I plan to shop in December when all of the nice New Year’s dresses are out. Do what’s right for you!

You’re way ahead of me…I haven’t even booked the venue yet lol! Well, I had one and then it fell through. I haven’t had the time to even go look at other places yet. I am hoping I will get the chance within the next couple of weeks! But I think it’s totally fine not to have the dress yet. The venue, however… lol

I haven’t either! I went to David’s Bridal to look at swatches for Bridesmaid dresses so that I could decide on my wedding colors, but I didn’t try anything on myself! I also have nothing concrete done. We’re going in on Thursday to sign the paperwork for our venue and put down our deposit, I’ve talked to the caterer (long-time family friendor who isn’t requiring a deposit from us), and e-mailed the photographer today about engagement photos so that we can get some Save-The-Date Cards printed! We aren’t having a DJ (brunch wedding).
I think the reason I’m putting off dress shopping is because that’s something *I* have to do! I push off phone calls that need to be made onto my fiance. He can’t try on dresses for me! Hahaha.
