Help ladies, I have just booked my wedding for 5 months time, and I have fallen in love with the Augusta jones “cyd” wedding dress. I cannot afford to pay the bridal shop price of £1700 so need one second hand. I’m a size 12 or 14. can you please let me know if anyone comes across one for sale??? Thanks ladies xxx

@Olive12:  Hi! I’m wearing Tina also. Love it. Mine came in early!  I’ve tried it on and it’s amazing. My first fitting is the first week of March so unsure about alterations. I am 5’5″ and it will need to be shortened a little.

I just bought my august jones belle dress this weekend.  I love it!   I also really liked the Tara Keely 2206, but they didnt have it.    The Jesse is a beautiful dress!

Hi!  I may be buying that AJ dress too!  What did you end up doing with the flowers?

@sofiekitty:  I inspired by your post and try on Enzoani Dakota in my trip with the intention of buying it, and guess what the sale lady brought out Augusta Jones Lucille as she thought the dress will be what I was looking for and the dress is under my budget (I didn’t want to try on Augusta Jones dresses not because I dont like them but because all the dresses look so expensive and I think they will be way over my budget). Guess what, I LOVE Augusta Jones Lucille more than Dakota, I LOVE the neckline, the back is AMAZING and I love how the dress has little sparkles) and I love how the dress incorporates both Satin and Lace and sparkles so beautifully, and I said Yes to it yesterday and still under my budget 🙂 I am going to go back in 4 days to pick up the dress and will post the pictures of the back.

I can definitely see what you mentioned about pointy boobs but I didn’t mind for my dress. And the weird punching lines above the thighs, I am planning to loose 5 more pounds so will see how it goes after otherwise I will let it out half an inche for easier moving around.

I saw there are holes inside the dress similar to a corset, however the shop didn’t let me try or mentioned about the strings to use as an inside corset (I tried it on by zipping outside only), now I came back to this post and saw @pinkandsparkly: has her string and using those holes as an inside corset. Does that come with the dress as standard or you have to buy separately? Does it make lots of difference with the string? Thanks

@zoecn:  Wow I LOVE that dress!! The combination of satin and sparkly lace is so elegant and beautiful – best of both worlds!! Congratulations!! I can tell you that the corset with the holes and string are built in and trust me it does wonders when tied up! It totally shrinks your waist and lifts your boobs! I’ve been doing a lot of alterations on my dress but from my experience I have learned that you shouldn’t try to change too much on a dress. I tried altering the neckline and although it looks ok, I sort of wish I would have left it as is.  Augusta Jones dresses are classic and beautiful the way they are! I’m so excited for you!! PS. I don’ t see pointiness in the boobs or bunching near your thighs….It looks great!!

@zoecn:  By the way, this is what my dress is looking like these days:

And here it is in better lighting (but before the bust was lowered):

And here’s the back lowered a bit:

@sofiekitty:  Thank you, I will go back to the shop and ask them about the strings, otherwise I guess that wont be too difficult to replace. You look great in the new shape, especially the back, looks so much better than the original way and showing your figure much more. I honestly like it more than Dakota, seeing the Dakota in person, your lace is much more intricate. Your back and the lower back is very similar to my dress actually. Do you have any problem sitting down at all with the new shape? I tried to sit on it, and it was very difficult especially above the thighs. I wonder if it is because it’s too tight. I can definitely see your point of the new neckline, although it is still beautiful, but the old way is much more suttled, I still like the new way, I think it still looks great, and I wouldn’t change anything else of the back anymore, I think the seamstress has done a good job with alteration to a new shape.

@sofiekitty:  Your changes to the dress are stunning! Live the new neckline and shape! You took a risk in changing it and it totally worked out – congrats!
