@Soon2bMixon13:  Try Candid Focus Photography and Film. http://www.candidfocusphoto.com. Jon’s rates are very, very affordable. He has a package for about $800. It comes with all day photography, rights to the pictures, free touch ups..among other things.

@aliciaytaylor:  It’s funny that I looked into that venue because I was int he same boat as you. Thanks to your post, I am also having my wedding reception at Overlea Event Center. I REEEEALLY love the flexibility there! Furthermore, I just realized that you’re married to my frat brother lol!

Another Charm City bride chiming in to say hey! We are planning the wedding from NYC, but grew up in Bmore.

We are having our wedding downtown at the Frederick Douglass – Isaac Myers Maritime Museum. We’ll be using the pier and the 3rd floor of the building We are absolutely in love with the space!

Yes, the horror stories that you’ve heard about their communication are true. But I was very patient with them, emailed consistently, but not enough to be annoying, and left voice messages here and there, and we are fabulous now. My wedding is in 2014 which has allowed me to be less stressed. And I reeeeally wanted that venue – did I mention that?…plus we are helping out a great non-profit by having our celebration there.

We are now thinking hotel blocks for our guests in the harbor area and caterers. I am happy to answer any questions you ladies may have about the venue, and I also have a list of other places that we scouted. I’d also love to catch up with any other Baltimore June/July/August 2014 brides. Members Only jackets, anyone?

ooo, I’m happy to find this thread.  And your post @misspurplepurl I did see the reivews about the Maritime Museum and it scared me a bit!  I am also planning for the summer-ish of next year.  Right now I am thinking the Baltimore Museum of Industry (have the date on hold for a few more days) and a church in fed hill, but haven’t pulled the trigger yet.  What other places did you look into?  How did you find the maritime museum, I have done a bunch of searches but only recently even had the space pop up and it sounds really cool so I’d love to hear what else you looked at.  I know time is getting to be of the essensce for booking warm weather weddings for 2014.

Another Baltimore Bride here!!

November 2013 at Saint Alphonsus and then reception at the Mansion House at the Zoo. We are so excited!

Although it has been a little difficult planning since we are planning from DC. Seems close, but since no one here really seems to have a car, we are kind of stuck.

@JennyJK: Hey Jenny! So sorry I didn’t see your message sooner. We looked into the following places online only: Bromo-Seltzer Art Tower, Maryland Science Center, Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA),Gramercy Mansion Bed and Breakfast, Adele Corner House, Walters Art Museum, Chase Court.

We visited the following places after reviewing online and speaking with someone:Garrett-Jacobs Mansion (Engineers Club), Rawling Conservatory (Druid Hill Park), Carroll Museum (at Shot Tower), Eubie Blake Jazz Center (which I loooooooved), Cordetti Glassblowing Studio (also loved), Cylburn Arborteum, Maryland Historical Society, and obviously Frederick Douglass – Isaac Myers Museum.

We found the museum because we were searching for non-tradition venues. We then began looking around the city in places we visited a lot when we were dating via Google Maps. Once it popped up it was very easy to find more information because of its non-profit connect and being a focal point in the development of African-American Maritime history and businesses in Baltimore.

Some of you know your not actually a Baltimore bride, but instead a MD bride right? Tongue Out

@MissPurplePurl:  I’m a Baltimore bride! This board is so quiet and it makes me a little sad ๐Ÿ™ We’re getting married in July and we have most of the big stuff booked (I hope!) – venue/caterer, music, officiants, and dress! My goal is to have the florist, cake, bridesmaids dresses, and grooms tux taken care of by end of January, mid-February at the latest!

@EllEmm005 – I know, I thought the same thing! If you need a florist I’d recommend Radebaugh – they did such a great job and the prices were really fair!

Went to Men’s Warehouse for our tux and Nordstroms for the bridesmaid dresses.

Yeah for activity! Where are you ladies having your weddings? Mine is in August in Fells Point. We still have a few outstanding items: florist, baker, suit for groom, DJ (still on the fence). I’m sure I’m forgetting a few other things.

@camigliotta:  Thanks! Adding their website to my favorites for later! How was your experience with Men’s Warehouse?

@MissPurplePurl:  We’re doing our ceremony and reception at the DoubleTree in Columbia. They gave us some great discounts because they were going to be doing construction in July, then cancelled the construction – so we basically got good rates for nothing. Which makes me happy!!

If you end up going with a DJ, we’re going to use Nathan at C&J Entertainment. My sister used him for her wedding last year and he was fantastic (we are a big dance/party family though). And they are pretty affordable – I think we’re paying $750 for 4 hours? I know that’s lower than a lot of the DJs I saw but my mom requested that we use him so I’m not sure how good it is… don’t tell me if it is a bad deal please! ๐Ÿ™‚

@MissPurplePurl I loved our florist, cake, and DJ – so let me know if you want me to pass along more names / vendors.

@EllEmm005 – that is a really good deal for a DJ. Our dj was awesome, but I didn’t see any deals near that price AT ALL when I was looking, so if you know you like his style know you got a good deal ๐Ÿ™‚ Also, men’s warehouse was fine. Just know that they can give you a better deal than they start out with. We went in with the $40 off coupon and then put down a deposit of $20 total to get the guys tux’s each for $60 off. I thought that was a pretty good deal.
