Hi Bees! I’m curious, what are your New Years Beauty resolutions?
I need to be more diligent about washing my face twice a day, and I want to wear makeup/do my hair more this year. I am the kind of girl to pull my hair back, and mascara/foundation only for work; with a more pulled-together look when I’m not working. (I’m an ER nurse.) I also want to get a facial done quarterly, primarily for extractions (I’m prone to blackheads/whiteheads in my T-zone.)
Does anyone have any cosmetic procedures they’re planning on getting done this year?
Switch from being low maintenance, to more high maintenace? Or Vice versa?
Any toning down the amount of spending on beauty in 2014?

I am pretty frugal and lazy about beauty. I have a basic makeup routine and my hair is pretty much wash and go, unless I decide to straighten it for something special.
Because I have basically ZERO budget for beauty for my wedding in July, I plan to practice my wedding hair myself using youtube how-to vids. Just need to find out if I need any curlers or whatnot before I start, but then I need to dedicate some time to wedding beauty practice. So that is my New Year’s Res and thank you for starting this thread, or I wouldn’t have thought to put it in these terms! 😀

@prahajess: Hey, that’s a good resolution! There’s some frickin’ awesome videos on how to make curls without curlers, FYI. You just pick up a pack of bobby pins and make pin curls; I do it all the time and the curls last forever. (learned from YouTube as well 🙂 )
Save you some money there, hopefully!

ooooh, that’s good to know! Especially since Fiance got me some bobby pins for my stocking! And the wedding hair I want is 50s…
ok, not hijacking the thread.

If you want to know someone on youtube who is an amazing makeup/hair specialist and how to person, you should check out Carli Bybel. She’s super sweet and cute too, so it’s not annoying to watch her do her magic. I don’t have any specific beauty new years resolutions, but this past year I actually took the time to learn how to put makeup on the correct way or rather in a way that contours your face and eyes so that it brings out the best features…and i learned from Carli Bybel! So hopefull this year I will perfect techniques to help improve my looks. I’m also going to become a hard body for my wedding hahaha!! I just have to actually start working out at some point in order to acheive that hahaha!!!

I want to start taking better care of my skin.
I also want to get better at applying lashes and perfect my brow routine.

My resolutions include learning how to do my makeup and hair better. I’m too low maintenance when it comes to hair and makeup and would like to look better.

@chic_and_fabulous: I just spent a small fortune on skincare products to help me kick this adult acne in the ass. So far, so good! I am very, very diligent about washing my face and buying really “clean” makeup, so I would really like to get away from having to wear it and let my natural skin show through more– I just need it to clear up a little more first! If I see the tiniest red bump I immediately reach for the cover up or foundation, so I would like to literally be more comfortable in my skin and letting it show

Mine are pretty much like yours! I’d love to learn to not be so lazy and do a little more makeup every morning, and also be more diligent about my skincare routine.

@gelaine22: second that!
I’m improving my skin care routine! I’ve switched to Argan Oil as a mouisturizer and I have to say it was the best $50 purchase I’ve ever made!
