Since tomorrow is cyber Monday, I was going to try to find a few deals on some things and since my feet aren’t getting any bigger, I thought I might start looking for some wedding shoes. Mostly I’m just ready to actually make a wedding purchase, but I’m telling myself it’s just for the savings.
Anyway, I actually like wearing heels on occasion, but I’m 5’5 and FH is 5’8, and it’s HARD to find shorter heels. I was looking at flats, but I didn’t have flats in mind when I picture my wedding look, but I don’t want to be taller than FH either.
What shoes did you pick? And if you feel like sharing, where did you get them, how high were the heels and how much did you pay?

That’s a tough one. I used to be in a relationship with a man my exact height and I hated wearing heels around him. It made me feel weird. You have a few inches between you so you could easily do a kitten heel. Have you considered that look? I can search and see what I can find for you if you’d like. 🙂

@SouthernGirl: Not 100% sure, but I think you were the bride looking at gold shoes? A pair came to mind instantly when I started looking around the internet. I tried on a pair at DSW that are gold and sparkly. They have a 2 and 3/4 inch heel and are super comfy. I read a review on the website from a bride that wore them for her wedding before I went to try them on. She shared a picture of her dancing in them at her wedding. Something to consider! Plus they are very inexpensive. Bonus! lol 🙂

There are lots of heels online that are shorter heals.
I’m 5’9, Fiance is 5’6, I’ll be wearing flats

@soontobebe: It wasn’t me looking for the gold shoes, but those are super adorable 🙂

I worried about that too. I’m 5’8 and my husband is 5’10. Therefore, my heels were about 1.5 inches. They were so comfortable I had them on from noon until midnight!
Oh and they were only $40.00 at DSW.

I’m about 5’6″ and Fiance is about 5’8.” I wear heels every day for work, so I’m used to being taller than Fiance. I bout Nina shoes with a pretty high heel. I’ll either take them off for some pictures, or he’ll just have to suck it up. I actually like being taller than him 🙂

@SouthernGirl: Will you come back and let us know if you found anything? I, too, am looking for a lower heel. I won’t bore you with all my must-haves, but I am excited to see if you find anything!!

I’m in a similar boat — Fiance is 5’7″ and I’m 5’4″. Even though we have three inches of difference, if I wear any sort of heel and stand right next to him (aka wedding pics) it looks awkward.
I’ll be going with flats! The pink ones, to be specific:
They’re Mel by Melissas and I found them at Urban Outfitters for $45.
If you’re an edgier bride, something like this could be cute and on-trend:
They’re Deena and Ozzy’s, on sale at Urban Outfitters for only $19!
I feel your pain…I never imagined flats being my lovely bridal shoe, but now I’m excited as ever to wear mine!

I’m the same height as my husband, and like you I never pictured flats as part of my wedding day look. I tried to find some cute low heels but didn’t have much luck. And bridal flats are plain ugly. I started looking for just any pretty flats in my wedding colors and stumbled apon the scoop-b flats by bridal by butter. They were pricey, but worked for me.
Try zappos or a similar site that lets you search shoes by heel height. That’s how I found mine. Especially since you can return them if you don’t like them!

@Ms_Pinoy: Those white ones are awesome! I may end up getting some flats too if they’re the right price, just for comparison.

Yeah, my husband and I are the same height. I wore ivory satin ballet flats from David’s Bridal (something like $30 with the dye charge included), and he wore plain ivory dress shoes that have a slightly thicker heel than my flats. I feel awkward in heels as it is (I’m nearly 5’10”), so I probably would have gone with the flats anyway!

I’m having the same problem, I’m 5’8.5″ and Fiance is about 5’10.5″…. if I wear my ususal 4 inch heel, I feel as though I’m dwarfing him. So I’m trying to stick to a 2.5 heel for the wedding, but it is hard as I LOVE tall heels!! I personally can’t stand flats, so its a kitten heel or something a bit taller for me.
I’m actually trying to find a cool pair of ballroom or tango dancing shoes, which tend to have a heel height of 2″, 2.5″ or 3″. Check those out if you want something lower heeled and still comfy.

I’m 5′ 5″ and my fiance is only about 5′ 8″ so with heels, we are the same height if not taller. I totally think this is awkward too so I am planning on wearing these flats:
