uh no. my bff had cupcakes. honestly- barely were eaten at all, but its likely bc the cupcakes were in an inconvienent space. i got one, and just went back and sat at the table and ate it. you dont need plates for cupcakes

I just had some napkins on the cake table for our cupcakes. Didn’t see the need for plates.

I don’t think i had plates…. I’m really not sure, haha. I think it was just napkins. It worked out fine 🙂

My sister had a small cake to cut about 10 inches but she only served the cupcakes. She had fancy napkins. I wouldn’t expect a plate for a cupcake only if you were serving other desserts in addition to the cupcake

I’m doing cupcakes as my cake as well, we’re putting out nice napkins. We’re also having a dessert bar, which there will be plates at because of the pies and cakes there so I suppose people could use those plates if they wanted to but I don’t think it’s necessary.

GrassHouse:  No, we didn’t.  We didn’t have a very formal wedding, and people were perfectly happy to eat cupcakes out of the papers.  That was one of the reasons we went with cupcakes… fewer plates and silverware, no need for someone to cut it, less hassle in general.

GrassHouse:  I thought we were going to do plates but maybe we’ll just get some party napkins. My DJ had a cute idea, which is since we’re not doing a cake cutting, we can hand out the cupcakes personally to our guests  and give a little thank you speech : ). We are only having about 60 people though, so with a larger group this might be mayhem haha

We did have plates, but it wasn’t an additional rental or fee for us- they were provided by our venue.

GrassHouse:  FABULOUS question!!  We’re doing cupcake towers and I never even considered that!
