If you live in Germany you’d need two „weddings“ anyway… so why not get married in the states legally? There’s literally no paperwork and it’s recognized in Europe. And there goes your American family event. One down!

And depending where your family lives in France it’s not too far to drive or fly if it’s planed ahead of time.

Cant help you with a venue. Good luck though! Viel Erfolg.

Since nobody is offering suggestions, I will, even though they’re neither on a lake nor in the mountains.

Near Regensburg, there is a beautiful garden (Hesperidengarten) that does weddings outside or in a lovely greenhouse. You order in catering (Roter Hahn in Regensburg, I think) and it is amazing there. A friend got married and I loved it.

If a RIVER rather than a lake would do, you could look at a variety of Regensburg venues, eg Sorat Hotel. Or maybe Klosterwirtschaft Pielenhofen – that’s also right next to a river.

perfectlypeach :  nobody has to be from the US to get married there. In Germany you have to go to the Standesamt, dunno how France handles it. And you probably know the grand opening hours Mo-Fr 9-14:00 with a two hour break or something stupidig like that. So why not handle that part in the US with your US Family? And then have a wedding in Europe. And Americans allow crazy things. Get married in the mountain or on a surfboard or on the beach (that’s what we did). You go and get a marriage certificate telling them that you need the apostille and then find and officiant off you go. The Marriage will be legal in Europe and takes less time. It only takes a couple of minutes to have it legalized at the Standesamt once you’re back. For the certificate you only need your passports.

Do you speak German? Try maybe some of those bridal magazines? They should have suggestions and then go from there. Maybe Instagram can help. I am not sure but I think every bigger hotel also caters to wedddings and often offers a whole package with decorations and food.

I tried to find boards like the bee in German/Germany. That was kinda hopeless πŸ˜‚  Not that I ever planned to get married there, I was just curios and wanted to compare it to the bee. I found some overtly ridiculous aruff about rings, laughed really hard and closed the website. Germans are so…. German: my way or the highway

Seehaus at Kleinhesseloher See in Munich – city center with a lake

La Villa in Starnberg, but that’s rather expensive

Fischer at Ammersee

Herzogliches Bräustüberl at Tegernsee

Are you searching for a real venue or for a restaurant close to a lake? How many guests do you have?
