I took my baby girl in for an appointment for her allergies. She had what I thought was cherry eye (where the third eyelid protrudes slightly) and I wasn’t too concerned about it, but I asked the vet to take a look.
She said that it wasn’t cherry eye, but a tumor on her third eye. We’re taking her in next week for surgery to remove it, but its base is pretty wide so they will have to put her under general anesthesia to remove it completely. Then they’ll biopsy it and see if its cancerous.
I’ve looked it up online and it looks pretty grim. It seems that more often than not, third eyelid tumors are malignant. She is nearly 9, and it seems to be fairly common with age. I’m trying to stay positive but I’m so worried for my Molly.
Anyone else have experience with this? What happened with your dog?
