Hi bees!!
As in my previous posts, I’m moving to be with my LDR boyfriend (yay!!!) to Rochester, NY this Saturday; specifically the town of West Irondequoit. I’m so excited to have a complete change, transitioning from city life (I live in Brooklyn, born and raised in the Bronx) to Western, NY. Any of you ladies are from Rochester and are familiar with the area? I’ve been up there plenty of times to visit my Boyfriend or Best Friend but I know visiting a place is different then living there.

apra26: Welcome to WNY! I’m not in Rochester, but Buffalo, which isn’t too far away. It will definitely be a transition from NYC, but I think you can get a little bit of everything in our part of the state – city life, suburbs, and even rural farmland.

Welcome to the ROC!
I was born & raised in Rochester until the age of 20 –in 2011 I moved to NC for college where I met my Fiance who’s from here.
The biggest difference is the city size. Irondequoit is a nice ‘suburb’ of the city, pretty scenery with Lake Ontario right there. If you have any questions, ask away!

Born and raised In a suburb. After the wedding, I’m moving into my fiance’s house in the actual city. Not too far from Irondequoit. Rochester is a great place to live! We have lots of culture, interesting people, and access to fairly short commutes!
feel free to message me!

Soccergirl0809: Yeah that’s what everyone is saying! I’m excited for a big change like this. I definitely won’t miss being in crowded subways and trains lol. Any nice spots and restuarants to go to in the summer?

ladyvictoria: Yeah I’ve noticed I still can enjoy some city life and then surburbs. How far away Buffalo from Rochester?

I don’t live in Rochester, but I live in Buffalo (about an hour to an hour and a half away). My sister does live in Rochester, though, and I’ve visited a few times. Rochester is a very nice city to live in! If you’re looking for some aspects of the city but on a smaller scale, I think you will love living in Rochester. I personally love living in a small city, I think it’s a nice balance between a big city and a small town.

apra26: We’re about an hour away. I know many people that commute to school or work from one to the other. I prefer a shorter drive, but it’s certainly not unheard of.
