OH my I hope not, I did see a news story with a couple who was on their honeymoon.  I wonder if she is a bee.

That would be just awful, I hope carnival gave everyone a full refund plus something.

Oh man I heard about that too. I hope those people get their money back or a free trip for their trouble!

It’s such an awful story.  I think the one I read said they’re getting a refund for the cruise plus any travel to get to the cruise as well as a free cruise another time.  I just can’t even imagine how awful it was.

They get both their money back and a free new cruise.  I heard they had great weather while stranded too – it honestly doesn’t sound like too bad a deal to me!  Free extended vacation and free new vacation coming out of it as well!

@panterapeach: They gave a full refund, plus a free trip, and payment of any necessary accommodation & travel once returning to shore from this trip.

My issue with it is that they said they ate mostly Pop Tarts and Spam for those days and that the toilets overflowed.  It probably wouldn’t have been that bad had the water continued to work and if they had had more nonperishable foods that didn’t necessarily have to be prepared.

@Mrs.KMM: No doubt! But I could only eat Spam sandwhiches for so long while stranded 😛

@mandb122: I also read at one point they were making mayonnaise sandwiches because there was nothing else and that the stench of overflowing sewage and rotting food was overwhelming.

@KatNYC2011: It would just not be pleasant for me.  I know one man said he didn’t even eat after the first day or two because the smell was so bad that he constantly felt sick.

Could they not get off and get something to eat or were they stranded on the ship?

@MsJ26: I believe the ship was in the middle of the ocean when the engine fire happened that shut off the power.

I would hardly call that a vacation. Bad smells, no power, no heat or a/c, no toilets for almost a day and limited food the last few days. Spam and Pop Tarts? No access to the pool and everybody around is in a poor mood. I feel very bad for those people!
