@blissfully86: I only say the word “cute” to a baby/toddler or mushy engagement pictures.  Never to any type of engagement ring.

I’m sure your ring is beautiful You have a man that loves you very much. That’s all that counts!

Be sure to tell any of these friends that their weddings were “cute”. lol (I’m being bad)

@blissfully86: I had that happen to me! I have a .87 stone and a former friend/co-worker said “it’s so tiny! It’s so cute!”

This is a person who swore left and right that she would wait and marry a rich, old man to ensure she got at least 5 carats.  Fast forward 6 months . . . .

I ran into her last week after not seeing her for 6 months and she is now engaged. (not to an older man but a young man with a very very wealthy family). I was shocked to see an approximately half carat center stone surrounded by a halo. The ring is gorgeous and very elaborate and vintage looking, my style completely. I love the ring, and I am NOT saying it’s small by ANY means. However . . . .Ms. I’ll never settle for less than 5 carats” didnt get her 5 carats.

I would never ever make a comment or post like this except that I had spite for months toward her for saying mine is tiny in such a condescening way. I feel your pain and I hate that people can be sooo rude.

I think alot of people get ring envy & its nothing to feel bad about. Its normal, even!

Even people with 1 carat rings I am sure get ring envy! There is always going to be a ring bigger than yours but that does not make it better. Your ring is from your man & has so much meaning behind it! That is what makes it so beautiful! 🙂 My solitaire is a 1/5th carat marquise & I love it! You can bling it up with a wedding band or wedding bands! I got a 1/4th carat half eternity band to go with mine & they look lovely together! You could always get two bands one for each side, also! Many women do this with solitaires!

Here is my rings to show you what a “smaller” solitaire & diamond band look like together & my ring size is 7:

@Sweet.Sugar.Rose: It is true that anyone with any size can get ring envy. There are soooo many rings out there but only one given by the one you love! I remember this when I find myself getting obsessed with other rings when there is no reason to!

That’s pretty rude of them.

In one of my classes, there’s a woman who has a solitare setting with a very small diamond, probably less than 1/6 of a carrat, and I would never call it “cute,” I’d call it beautiful because she wears it proudly as a symbol of love. Even a little sparkle is beautiful and worth showing off! I think it’s really sweet because it’s not meant to “impress” (for lack of a better word) but mean what it’s really supposed to mean…not a sign of money, but of love. 1/3 is not small at all. There are always going to be huge, ridiculous rings and ones that are bigger than yours, but I know when I look at mine that it’s perfect. It has so much sentimental value. I’d rather have it than Kim Kardashian’s bridal set.

@Cupcake2012: Exactly! haha No reason at all to feel bad about it. It doesn’t mean you love your ring anyless than you did before! 🙂

This is one of the reasons I LOVE being form Europe, not one of my friends or family (well…just my mom) have asked to see my ring, no one has ever wanted to compare or anything. We don’t have engagement rings where I’m from and I don’t know that many people here yet, so I haven’t had to deal with the crazy ring ladies who wants to compare 😀
