Oh, I forgot to mention ~ when my stomach is acting up I also drink tea ~ it’s called Yogi Stomach Ease and I get it on Amazon.  It is supposed to support healthy digestion.  I find it is calming (and it tastes good!).

Hi – I managed to ease my IBS hugely, as in I don’t notice it anymore (and I know what it’s like to have to plan EVERYTHING around it, journeys, events, everything!) by cutting lactose out of my diet. I use Lactofree milk, which is just normal milk with the lactose replaced with something else. I tried soya milk first but that just made it worse!! Anyway, I fond that swapping milk for Lactofree means I stay well enough to have the occasional chocolate and cheese with no bad effects. But if I drink a lot of normal milk, oh my gosh I remember why I shouldn’t!

Stress also used to be a big factor for me (although it doesn’t affect it now I’m of the lactose – now I just get eczema instead, ho hum) and the only way I could guarantee a decent trip or event was to pop the Immodium! Tmi yet…??

@sweetchiquita12:  This is exactly what I think. I believe 99% of people with IBS would find out their diet is crap, they’ve got food allergies, ulcerative colitis, Eosinophilia, or celiac disease. Doctors have become extremely lazy in this country. Trust me took me 20 years to find out oh look at that its celiac disease which is now stamped all over my medical files. If they cant figure it out easily they ignore it if its not killing you. Note I also have a very rare seronegative hybrid of RA and AS took my dr years to put that mess together but I’m treated like an RA patient now.

If you suspect celiac find a good gastro that knows about it. Make sure you call around and ask how many celiacs do you see. Make sure you dont go gf before testing or they will be false negative. If you test positive get a DEXA scan and full vitamin/metabolic panel ASAP. These things should be done annually on a celiac.

@sweetchiquita12:  Imodium definitely helps with diarrhea!  I buy the Advanced formula, which also helps with gas & cramps.  I had my appt today & my dr prescribed Levsin (an antispasmodic).  He also wants me to have another colonoscopy & endoscopy, ughhhhhh.  I hope you like the tea if you get some.  I like it even without sweetener.  🙂

I have IBS-D, and I drink peppermint tea sometimes to help. Also, I take a prescription anti-cramping med, as needed, which slows down the cramps that create the terrible rushes to the bathroom (it’s called dicyclomine).

I’ve taken Immodium a few times before serious events that I cannot risk an attack at (i.e., my wedding).

Honestly, the biggest thing that worked for me is being conscientious about what I eat. Also, working out regularly seems to help.

@sweetchiquita12:  I had issues for about a year.  I had one doctor tell me he was 99.9% sure it was my gall bladder.  Every test came back fine.  Even the 2 hour $4,000  one…  Anyway, I ended up in the hospital in July with severe pain.  It was my pancreas.  The ER doctor stated that pancreas symptoms mimic gall bladder symptoms.  A simple blood test finally revealed it.

@sweetchiquita12:  I took the tablets. I don’t know if there is a liquid form. I recommend taking the immodium once before the wedding, in case you have a reaction/allergy. You don’t want to find that out on your wedding day!
