ladyvictoria: I’m against upgrading the engagement ring, although I’m less attached to my wedding band. I LOVE it, but I picked it out where I didn’t choose the engagement ring (and he still nailed it!) The engagement ring, to me, represents a moment in time – when we got engaged. We’ll never be engaged again and when I look at it I remember my husband’s face as he proposed and I love that feeling. The wedding band represents our marriage, but not necessarily our wedding in my view. Our marriage will naturally change over time, so if I were to lose the wedding band I would replace it and not be as sad as if I were to lose my engagement ring.

Thank you so much!!! I absolutely love my ring and I love sharing complements with my fiance – I know he worked really hard picking out the stone/s and designing the ring…I am sure it makes him feel good to hear that someone besides me thinks it’s pretty! 🙂

I would never upgrade my ring set. My husband thoughtfully picked it out and I love it! I’m super sentimental though. I still where the ring he got me for our 1 year dating anniversary haha. We’ve been together for 8.5 years.

I don’t plan on ever changing my e-ring. I love it so much!

I will never change my ring, I am in love with it!

I love my engagement ring! I can’t stop staring at it even 9 months after my Fiance proposed to me. As of now, we don’t plan to change or upgrade it at any point…but I never say never! 😉

I went with a timeless platinum solitaire. But settings can become fairly dated looking and if I had gone with something trendier, I can see eventually deciding to update. Personally, I am most attached to the stone, and would not consider changing that.

ladyvictoria: I plan on keeping my set and maybe eventually adding another band. You know for the big anniversaries (25 yrs etc…). I love my set and hope to take really good care of it!

msmousingeeep: I didn’t realize that upgrading was so common until I joined the site as well. It sounds like most of us that plan on keeping our original rings were fortunate enough to have received our dream rings the first time around. We also seem pretty sentimental.
My ring is so special to me because my fiance designed it based on what he knew I loved, picked a beautiful, quality, center stone, and took me all the way to Montego Bay, Jamaica to propose! I’ll never forget that moment on the beach when he asked, and the rush of feelings, and how amazing it was to be in the most beautiful place I’d ever been with the love of my life. A ring that symbolizes all of that is simply irreplaceable 🙂

ladyvictoria: I don’t believe in upgrading my engagement ring. It is very sentimental, and if I want something bigger I have a whole other hand for it. I love my little diamond (by weddingbee standards, it’s .31 ct) and beyond it being a beautiful gift from Darling Husband, it symbolizes a promise to take care of each other. I dont find issue with adding anniversary bands though

i might upgrade just the setting to a better version of my double halo down the road. I like chunkier settings… the stone is absolutely forever though. my FI’s mom passed away when he was 13 and he put her stone in a new setting. and i know it means the world to him, and it means a lot to me too. and i do love my ring…

I am in the process of a downgrade. I decided I really like smaller rings.

I don’t have any plans to upgrade as I love my ring and the meaning and miles it has behind it (it was well travelled as he proposed on a vacation) but wouldn’t be opposed to it if Fiance wanted to buy me a bigger diamond on a milestone anniversary – but even then, I would really have to think about it!
Here’s my forever set 🙂

Going smaller still counts as changing it, so you don’t score a point. 😉 lol
