@LeonardLady:  Thank you! It’s a Justin Alexander, style 8656. I did add a belt to it!

I’m a street size 10/12. My dress was a size 12 Allure sample but it had to be let out a bit. Here it is after all my fittings were done, on the day I picked it up from the seamstress:

I’m a street size 10.  I had to order a size 14 wedding gown because of my large chest.  It got taken in to a size 12 besides the chest.

@littlemisschef18:  Well, I’m a street size 8 and ordered my Sottero & Midgely gown in a 10, despite my hips measuring into the 12.  It’s a corset back and the consultant assured me it would be fine, even if I don’t lose the 10 pounds I’d like to.

Anyhow, I tried on a few different silhouettes and found that in general, mermaids and fit & flares worked the best on my body.  I’m curvy, at a healthy weight for my height, but carry some pudge in my middle (hence wanting to lose those 10 more pounds).

Fit & flare and mermaids overall worked best, but let me tell you, they’re not all created equal!  The gown I ordered was yards away from what I’d expected I’d get (I thought I’d go lacy, the dress I ordered is very plain, no bling, no lace), but due to the boning it did WONDERS for my figure and I fell in love with it.  I was actually surprised how good I looked in that style.

Although I also wore a mermaid style gown as a bridesmaid a few years back at more of a street size 10, and I ROCKED that, if I do say so myself 😛  I get compliments on that dress to this day, when people see the pictures.

Honestly I think that the mermaid/fit & flares are MADE for us curvy girls.  My consultant told me that smaller or thinner girls have a harder time pulling that style off.

@BeeG35:  I tried on that dress and it made my ass look sooooooooooooo good!

@littlemisschef18:  I’m a street size 12/L in tops cause of my chest and 10 in bottoms (need a bit of stretch to fit over my hips!). I always knew I was going to rock a mermaid because I absolutely LOVE my body. My dress is from a UK designer and Ihad to order it in a size 18 lol. I dont care if it was a size 52 as long as it looked amazing. It will have to be taken in at the waist for sure and maybe slightly at the hips but the bust area should fit well!

Here are some pictures of dresses I tried on starting with the dress I selected:

Here is the original dress I ordered that was discontinued:

@BeeG35:  Here is the dress (still undergoing alterations). I’ve added removable straps so my shoulder are covered for the ceremony.

the dress i tried on is a 12, it fit perfect but was a little snug because of my chest and rather large backside so it was tight in the hip lol so they ordered me a 16. i havent tried on the dress we ordered yet though.
