@Mrs Grape: Ugh I agree about proactive! It dried me out completely! And I didn’t even have bad acne…:s

@Mrs Grape: oil of olay contains petrolatum products, and is not appropriate for acne-prone skin as it can clog pores~

@Mrs.SplatterPaint: completely agree about the wipes~ if you need to use wipes, you still need to use a facial wash AFTER to remove the residue of the makeup remover or else it can clog your pores~ and then use toner/serum/moisturizers before going to bed!

My skin has improved dramatically since I started using my clarisonic more frequently.  I also like the peels from Philosophy that I use once or twice a month.  I moisturize twice a day with Cetaphil face lotion.

I have had a problem with acne since I was 11! Seriously so annoying! The past year I have switched to more expensive concealer and my skin has seemed to clear up more. I still get the occasional breakout but nothing like before. I’m not sure if I am just growing out of it(finally!) or if it is the makeup switch. I was using Maybelline and I now use BareMinerals and Mac. Who knows, but I’ll take it!

Get Dermalogica’s Daily Microfoliant. I promise it will do wonders for your skin! I have always struggled with breakouts, and this has made my skin beautiful again. It is a rice bead exfoliator and it has salycilic acid in it. Make sure you use a moisturizer too though! I know you can get it on Amazon for like $34 or so, and it’s cheaper than getting it from an esthetician! I would recommend it to anyone, and it always has amazing reviews. Try it 🙂

@_lucyinthesky_: it’s one of my favorite products – but it’s inappropriate for someone experiencing active breakout/pustules/papules….. with the beads, however fine it’s grinded, you risk spreading the bacteria from one side of the face to another if you have an ‘open’ infection (when the pimple Pops!)

Do not use mechanical exfoliation techniques if you are experiencing breakouts; do not pick on them, and be really really gentle. . . . acne is like a wound – you don’t pick on wounds to help it get better sooner, do you?~ plus, your finger nails trap the most bacteria…and what you see as an infection is just what is active/visible on the surface. When you pick, you risk not only rupturing the cellular wall/causing injury – and in the future, making that spot most likely to break out, you also risk pushing the infection deeper into your skin and turning it into a bigger infection (cystic) than it originally is.
