I work in the admin dept of a large company and every year, my dept is required to stay after hours to close out the year. Nothing actually “offically” closes until financial does their thing, so it’s really pointless for us to be working late. Nevertheless, I have no choice. I’m hoping I won’t get stuck any later than 6pm and crossing my fingers that this is my last year, as I’m job hunting pretty seriously. Anyone else stuck working late??

@Pixie26: I won’t be working as late as you, at least you’ve got much of the night. Will you be going out?

@Pixie26: Ugh, I HATE that. I switched shifts at work to make sure I’m off, and now I’m working 4 12 hour shifts in a row just so I can have it off. I’m staying at a fancy hotel room with Darling Husband. So what does Darling Husband do? He picks up a shift and has to work! He gets off at 3p, but still. Check in time is 4p, and now he’s going to be tired! >:O I guess it doesn’t matter, as long as I can be sipping pink champagne from a Jacuzzi when the ball drops 😉

I’ll be working until 5pm, because the powers that be have decided to treat it like a regular day. I’m not pleased, but at least I’m off for New Years. I also know it could be worse.

I work in the restaurant industry, so we will always be open for NYE. I probably won’t be done with work until about 1am NY day.

Not me, but Darling Husband is on call so we were unable to make any plans this year. Booooo. Hopefully he won’t get called in so we can at least have a nice evening in just the two of us, but if something goes down it looks like I will be hitting the champagne by myself this year. 😉

Working until 5:30 on NYE…but I might get done early.

I’m a bartender/bar manager at a super popular bar/restaurant, so weekends (especially Fridays), and nights like New Years Eve don’t really exist to me. I’ll be working that day 2pm-4am. This will be two years in a row now.

@CatyLady: as of now we have no plans to go out. we usually sit pretty comfy at home. i make mojitos and fall asleep by 1am lol for 28, i feel pretty darn old.
@Bridey77: 3pm isnt so bad!! the rest of my office will leave at 3 and i will sit there with my new years scowl lol enjoy the hotel room!
@SincerelyShe: im also off for new years yay. but then back to the grind the next day 🙁
@lolot: what a crappy shift. that sucks for new years. on the bright side, he could save someone’s life that night. it was super fun to party when i was 21 but eh, i dont feel the urge so much anymore
@Mrs. Coyote: i will cross my fingers he stays home with you all night!
@Saria213: what a long night. its hard to not have any real weekends. my Darling Husband works retail so often his weekend is a tuesday night
