I’ve been on BC pills for 17 (!) years.  I know that can’t be good for me, but those pills are a godsend to me because I used to have periods so bad I would miss school because of them. I don’t have any worse dental problems than anyone else I know. I’ve had a few cavities over the years and a root canal a few years ago (but the root canal was my own fault because i knew I had a cavity and let it get too bad while I waited for dental insurance).

I was on the pill for 10 years and certainly got more cavities in the last few but I think it was mostly just getting older and skippin my checkbox while I wasa starving g student

@MrsRuby: I have been on BC for 6 years and about 5 months. I have always had bad teeth (not looks-wise, they are white and straight!). I have had numerous cavities, and four root canals. One root canal was on a baby tooth, and the other was a few months after I started using BC. Bad dental genes! Anyway, I have actually had less cavities since I have been using my BC. Get the crown, it will look great. Best of luck!

Sorry that happened to your tooth! I have nightmares about my teeth all the time and would be devistated if that happened to me. I’ve been on BC for ten years (stopped in August) and never had a cavity. I never heard of a corelation between the 2.

I’ve been on BC for almost 10 years….haven’t had a cavity the entire time.  I had one super-small cavity (filled w/o novacaine) when I was younger and thats it!

I’m 42 and been on BC since 21…I don’t think I have more dental issues than anyone else!

WOW! That stinks. What is your family’s dental health history? My Fiance has horrible family dental history and when he got to his 20’s, his teeth started giving him trouble. He constantly has trouble. It might be more about the history and less about the BC, you know?

There could be a connection, although I’ve never heard of it before. Def. talk to someone.
