I’ve been using RTR for YEARS…absolutely love it. It’s gotten more popular lately so you have to book further in advance than you used to but I’ve never had an issue (knocking on wood!) Always on time shipping, always good quality, and if the dress doesn’t work out they get you a different option overnight (or immediately if you live in NYC). I haven’t bought a dress for weddings/events ever since I started using it!

sochic:  I’ve use RTR several times now! Customer service is great, dresses however aren’t always great. Everytime I have rented, the dresses always smell funny. not surprised though because there’s probably over 100 different people who have worn it. They also don’t come in brand new shape, also to be expected. 3 of the dresses I have rented had horrible zippers that barely worked from being zipped so much. I actually had one dress get stuck the night of my event and the zipper ripped so I had to wear the back up size that was too big. But for a rental they do the trick!

Shipping is a breeze. Always arrives on time, and easy to ship back!

sochic:  and when I say the dresses aren’t that great, I mean they look kind of beat up. Threads coming undone, bottoms stained, armpits stained, etc.

I’ve used them a few times, including for my college graduation. Dresses came to me in perfect condition, but maybe they were newer additions to the collection and hadn’t been worn that many times? If you live close to NYC they have a showroom which is great, but if you don’t, they will rush you a different size/dress if you need it.

I’ve rented quite a few times over the past few years and LOVE Rent the Runway.  I have never had a problem with something smelling or torn…and they are super responsive if you need help.  I had one dress come and neither of the sizes fit properly, and they were able to overnight a brand new dress (in 2 sizes) in time for my event–free of charge!

A few times I’ve had dresses come new with tags, and even the ones that haven’t have never been frayed or anything. I have noticed in the past year or so, I have to book much further out from the event because there’s less availability.

The only problem I ever really had was that I rented a necklace and one of the gems had fallen out.  I took a picture and sent it to them and they immediately took that charge off my rental…but I had to find a new necklace to wear to that particular wedding.

I have used them and the dress was in perfect shape. It was a knee length dress completely covered in dark green sequins, and it looked brand new. The zipper was very difficult, but I have had that issue with sequin dresses before. Got so many compliments on the dress. Am using them again later this month! Btw, they just opened a showroom here in Chicago too.

sochic:  It wasn’t a formal long gown, but my favorite I’ve rented by them is the Kate Spade I wore for graduation. Pic below. I rented a second back up dress, and ended up wearing it for the awards ceremoney the night before graduation 🙂

My daughter has used Rent the Runway twice. She rented a gorgeous Reem Acra dress for prom as well as a shorter dress for an end of the year banquet. It was so simple to order and delivery was quick and exactly on time. Receiving two dresses in your choice of sizes makes it likely that the dress will fit perfectly. We were very happy with the experience.

Both dresses looked perfect and didn’t have any sort of odor at all.

I have been using them for about 5 years and i even paid to be a PRO because i rent from them several times a year and its worth it. Their customer service is great and i have mostly good experience with the items i rent/have purchased from them.

Shipping is great! I usually give 1 or 2 day leeway in case my 1st order doesnt work so they can send me replacement dresses on time.

By this point, i know which brands work for my body type and the ones that would be a waste of time! I even rented a jeweled headband and clutch for my wedding. They were my “something borrowed”.

I am a pro member as well and yes all the dresses I have rented have had an odor to them. I’m sure if you rent a brand new style of course it’s going to be nice. Read the reviews on dteases on their website. There’s good info on there that says what I am saying.

Doesn’t mean I won’t keep using them. You can just defonitely tell that they’ve been used a million times.

And as for cleaning, I’m sure they just dry clean them. But dry cleaning doesn’t get body odor out of them 90% of the time.
