Jewelieee :  We actually just moved to a new city, but I’m still working where we used to live. It’s about two hours away so I’ve been doing a lot of back and forth and staying with in laws while I’m working. Despite trying to schedule around my fertile period I’ll be working three night shifts in a row right when I’m supposed to ovulate! That’s why I’m pretty down about this cycle.

OAN, now after talking with our doc about DH’s SA we settled on starting IUI next cycle. Now, DH wants to adopt a more sperm friendly lifestyle with the hopes to maximize our chances when we do IUI, but wants to give it another 3 months of trying! Don’t get me wrong, I’m really glad he feels motivated to get healthier and everything, but I was excited about moving on to something else. And plus, I was trying to get him to make some of these changes months earlier as a way to feel more involved with TTC. Ugh don’t know how to feel about this, I was really hoping to be preggo before the year eneded and now who knows??

We had our consult for IVF with our new clinic today. I really like the doctor and really feel like we are where we need to be. Her plan is for me to start birth control pills next cycle which should be early September and because of my endometriosis she wants me to take them for 6 weeks then come in for monitoring and then start stims so we’re looking at late October for stims then early November for egg retrieval and hopefully doing a fresh transfer.  I’m excited and nervous all at the same time.  Hubby was definitely hoping it would be sooner than late October but besides that he’s very excited to get started as well.

moonandnight88 :  that’s frustrating that you feel he’s stalling. I totally understand why you feel like you want to move forward. Perhaps you could compromise? He keeps the better lifestyle to have optimal sperm for IUI

moonandnight88 :  That does sound frustrating! Any improvement in a SA does take about 90 days so I can see where waiting the 3 months could be beneficial but I 100% understand wanting to move forward after months of trying.  When we first started with our fertility doctor before our move we thought about giving hubby some time on the vitamins that were recommended for him to see if we could get some improvement in his numbers but ultimately decided not to wait as we knew we would more than likely be moving in about 3 months and I’m actually glad we didn’t wait because that was in December and there hasn’t been any improvement since then.  It’s such a tough situation because you really don’t know what’s going to happen– you could wait and get the same results or you could get a huge improvement but there’s no way of knowing what it will be. For us since our doctor felt good moving forward with IUI that’s what we did and even though that route didn’t work for us I’m really glad we didn’t wait. I hope you and your hubby can decide on a plan that works for both of you.

Emmanem :  Thanks for the responses! You’re right in that there’s no guarantee that things will improve after the 3 months. We talked again and decided to try IUI for the next cycle and for him to continue with his vitamins and no drinking. Our doc did not think his numbers would be an issue for IUI. Obviously it would be great if things work out this cycle and the new changes won’t have to last for too long!

I was also reading that sometimes even if IUI doesn’t work the first time, it can kind of jump start things and people conceive the next cycle without it. I’m planning on taking a month break between these medicated cycles.

Thanks again for the responses ladies, this TTC thing can definitely get to you! Lots of luck and baby dust for a successful cycle!

Jewelieee :  Thanks, I definitely agree, this commute will be temporary! And I live for false hopes, after 14 cycles you gotta hang on to something LOL

Hope this cycle is treating you well, lots of baby dust!
