I’d like to hear how it went! How was it?
We’re seriously considering spending a week in the keys and just doing all things summertime.
And, since we had to change our wedding (due to oil spill) we just want to have alot of fun!
What vendors do you like? Where did you marry? What did you guys do for fun? I’ve been to the keys before and loved it! And yes, I am a parrothead at heart, even owning a parrot myself.

My daughter got married in 2008 at Smather’s Beach. They thought they were going to have a small destination wedding only 56 family and friends decided to go along! Everyone pitched in to rent a tour bus. Drove straight through from Indiana to Miami, where we took over a very friendly hotel that even hosted a beer and wine “reception” for us. The next day our bus took us to the cruise ship. At the Key West stop, we had a conch train take us to Smather’s beach for the wedding. The wedding officiant (wife) and photographer (her husband) met us there (with the wedding flowers as well). It was so beautiful! The conch train then took us back to downtown where we ate at Hogsbreath and explored. Colleen and Gary usually only do smaller weddings (ours was one of their biggest). Here is their website:

We’ve done 3 or 4 weddings in Key West, and always use Key West Weddings To Go.
They do an excellent job and are very affordable too.
Key West is a lot of fun! You’ll have wonderful time.
Just note that Smathers is a public beach. There’s a great place to get married on the beach where there is a circle of palm trees, but they are not allowed to ask people to move if they are laying out there when it’s time to set up for the wedding. We got lucky, as it was available. ( we had about 30 people at the last one), but there was a homeless guy asleep on a pinic table right next to the wedding. We managed to keep him out of the photos. 🙂

Thanks for the tip! We’re in the midst of moving this week/weekend and it’s crazy right now but we’re going to be immediately back to planning as soon as Memorial Day rolls around!
So far we like that idea, but I am going to also discuss with the resort we choose about having an intimate and private wedding too possibly on the grounds.
I’ve been there a few times before and loved it! It’s either there or the bahamas for us most likely. Although can’t totally rule out Turks and caicos either right now. But we’re getting on it!
