What is a Fitbit?

I don’t have one, but I’m curious to hear reviews from bees as well. I was debating between the fitbit and the relaunch of the jawbone Up bracelet (basically the same thing), but mixed reviews have me wondering.

I have one and I love it! I love looking at all my little graphs. It’s kind of funny to see a graphical representation of when I walked the dogs or got up to pee in the middle of the night.

It’s also really motivating and I’ve been known to take a few laps around the house to get my step count up for the day. I don’t use their food tracker because Livestrong has a much more complete database. I’d be happy to answer any questions you have! I’ve had mine since May.

I don’t notice that it gives me extra steps in the car, but my sister’s does. I drive a Tahoe and she drives a Camaro…wonder if that makes a difference? I do get two bonus flights of stairs when I go on the overpass on my way to work, but I know about it, so I just try to make sure it says 12 flights instead of 10 every day.

I use Windows XP with it currently but I’m about to also set it up on my work computer, which is Windows 7.

I’ve heard from people who have had a Fuelband or a Jawbone and then purchased a Fitbit that the Fitbit is more accurate, even if it is a little off. I also love that it has a clock on it, since my watch just up and died on me this summer.

@beachbridetx:  Ah, thanks for mentioning the comparison to Jawbone, because I was really stuck deciding between them! Fitbit is definitely sounding better based on your experience though, so I’ll probably lean that way.

I LOVE my fitbit!!!  It really keeps me accountable throughout the day.  I basically log in everything I’m planning on eating for the day (I plan all my meals ahead pretty much) in MFP, then just keep moving throughout the day until I have a surplus of calories left. MFP works with the fitbit, so I don’t have to manually enter in any exercise or anything, it does it all for me.   Great device.

I’ve been using it since early May.  So far I’ve lost 14 pounds.  πŸ™‚

Pengy ( Wedding bee Admin) did a review for it on the WB blog! If you search it on the forums it should come up!
