I’ve been thinking of getting some, probably won’t be until next summer though.

How much time do you spend taking care of them weekly?

i was debating getting some! we get through quite a few eggs, and my father in law has a ranch with a lot of them so offered us some if we wanted.

@WillowTreeWade:  how much space do you need for a chicken run? also how long have you had chickens for? im a bit lost as to where to begin

we have a big rat in the yard we need to take care of first, im scared it’d kill them

@WillowTreeWade:  Another question (Sorry, I know you were curious about other posters chickens and not offering a question/answer… but…)  I just saw you’re in New Brunswick, what sort of winter prep do you have for them? Heated coop or heated waterers?  We have a shed, but there is no way to get electricity out there without putting an underground line in for several hundred dollars…

No. I wanted chickens so badly but Darling Husband is pretty much against it. He says they’re smelly and he’s worried the dogs will torture them. Maybe by next spring I’ll talk him into it.

@WillowTreeWade: id love to have something like this, but i think itd need to be bigger right? i dont have a very good sense of size/dimensions

to be honest here its baking pretty much all the time, theres only one-two months where its a bit fresher. hopefully they wont overheat!

I work on an RSPCA accredited chicken farm! We’ve got something like 270,000 chooks per farm. One day I’ll have pet chooks, but I’m not allowed to now because of bio-security ;(
